Guild of Merchants

The Guild of Merchants is old, and broad in scope. It includes market peddlers, shipping magnats and shoppe owners under its wing. Unlike other guilds, the Guild of Merchants is quite a loose organisation. You are either in or out; there are no ranks. To gain entry, you must be sponsored by an existing member who has been in the guild for at least two years.   This being said, no one may sell goods in Nurem without being an approved associate of the guild.   Merchants may purchase a License to Sell from the guild in order to begin trading goods and services in Nurem. These merchants must contribute 10% of their daily earnings to the guild.    Joining this guild awards the new member with four 2 lb trade bars of silver (worth 10g each). They may trade coin for more of these bars as they wish. They are marked with the coat of arms of the guild, which makes them recognisable across the civilised world. The new member is granted access to the wider network and contacts held by the guild. They recieve a signet ring that features the arms of the guild upon it to mark them as a member. They are provided with, and may further source, the unique and secret parchment used exclusively by the guild and a wax seal featuring the guild arms, to provide legitimacy to their dealings.   Note: Players who join the guild gain a 10% discount from merchants in cities in Pallas if they prove they are members of the Merchant’s Guild of Nurem. In any other city, they may roll a Persuasion Check to attempt to gain this discount.
