The Nameless
The tribes of The Bloodmarsh prize nothing more highly than the strength to survive. When members fail to prove themselves, they are cast out to be consumed by the worms. If they are lucky, that is when the Nameless arrive.
A Tribe Apart
The Nameless is a tribe cobbled together from the castoffs of all of the other clans that inhabit The Bloodmarsh. They are the only group in the area that is comprised of more than one race, and they are the only group that does not actively seek to rid itself of its weakest members. Amongst the Nameless, it is common to see Yuan Ti, Centaurs, and Orcs - races that would normally only come together to wage war against one another - side by side in common cause. The tribe's elders believe that this sense of community is what makes them strong in the end, and members are expected to always hold the community highest in their mind. This sentiment has not only allowed the tribe to survive the harsh realities of the Marsh but has allowed its people to flourish.
Pariahs of Purpose
The insistence on prioritizing the needs of the group over those of the individual has put the lie to the prevailing attitude of other tribes that individual might is the only thing that really matters, and this has drawn the hatred of those tribes. The Nameless are a favorite target of opportunity for raiding parties and warbands seeking to prove that might does indeed make right. Because of this, the clan holdings of the Nameless are closely guarded secrets. No member of the clan is allowed contact with any members of other tribes, and breaking this law is punishable by death.
Hope in Exile
While every young tribesman in the wilds treats the very idea of the Nameless with mockery and derision, most young hunters secretly hope that, should they prove unworthy during their coming of age hunt, an emissary of the clan will find them before they are devoured. For the majority, it is better to be a subject of insult than a memory. They come to their new tribe ready to prove themselves and contribute to the community. Charity came in the form of saving their lives. From then on, they must work to earn their keep.
Brutal Diplomacy
The term "diplomacy" has no place in the Marsh. The tribes of the south take what they want through war or die trying. Territories shift daily and gains are paid for in blood. The Nameless carry that same brutality that is ingrained from birth into all tribesmen, but their sense of community provides a possible avenue for foreign traders and diplomats. Unlike the other tribes, the Nameless are likely to hear out new arrivals - even from outside - rather than killing them on sight. If traders could locate members of this tribe, the opportunity to gain access to the rich and unique resources of the area would be an incredible boon. Still, they would need to be prepared with significant gifts for the tribe, and they would need to ensure that their offers continued to benefit the tribe in a very real way.
