Dragons of Yuruk-Tar
Unlike most of Karnum [Yuruk-Tar is still home to many true dragons. Dragons whose power and majesty has not been reduced and shackled like their siblings on other continents. The innate natural and primal energies of Yuruk-Tar as well as the lack of interference from civilized races has allowed dragons to continue to make their lairs, amass their treasures, and gain servants like they always have.
With the recent banishment of giants from Karnum the dragons have been allowed to go from surviving to thriving. Without their primary competition and rivals the dragons of Yuruk-Tar have been able to openly display their power and majesty. With this new freedom an inevitable tyranny looms over the peoples of Yuruk-Tar. Many settlements on the edge of the rabid lands have already been claimed by a dragon as their realm, and the people within as their subjects. Although some dragons may be good-hearted rulers none of them are willing to allow their subjects the freedom they had when they ruled themselves. This is mainly due to their pride and self-importance however more than this after they learned of the fates of their siblings on the elder-continents they became downright tyrannical, with even golden dragons demanding that only those with the proper permit be allowed to carry weapons and all travelers in and out of their domain must be interrogated as they fear would-be assassins who would prevent them from continuing their "benevolent" rule. Gem dragons demand that those under them devote themselves to the amassing of knowledge and share this knowledge with their new ruler, and for those under the naturally tyrannical chromatic dragons, life is hell. Many are bound into slavery while others are sacrificed to gladiatorial arenas for their draconic overlords amusement. The methods by which these dragons rule their territories and how they treat those that live within them vary greatly however it is suffice to say that there are many which are not content.
Although only a handful of settlements have had to suffer through these hardships the spread of draconic rule seems inevitable. If one dragon manages to rise to enough power or perhaps a group of them form an alliance of sorts even Silvaria is unlikely to be able to resist them. Although many say that rule under a metallic dragon or the like would actually be beneficial for the people the primary concern of those opposed to the idea is what has already been seen, dragons using those under them as weapons in the great war between their kind. People who would never even carry a sword have been seen marching to their deaths to combat the militias of rival armies which has only increased the desire for the now illegal dragon hunting guilds to return.

Basic Information
Biological Traits
Although dragons certainly have sexes they lack reproductive organs. Instead female dragons develop innate magic around their adult years that allows them to create dragon eggs of their kind through a process known as "Ascendance" while male dragons have photographic memories throughout their lives.
Genetics and Reproduction
Around the adult years of a female dragon she will develop magic that allows her to create dragons eggs through a process known as "Ascension". This process varies from one type of dragon to another however the constant of this process is that the dragon must find a living creature that no larger than a cow (usually humanoids) and perform a ritual on it that transforms the creature into an egg. Some dragons will look for a willing participant in the process who wishes to "ascend" into dragonhood while others, typically chromatic ones, will force a creature into the process, and still others will trick the creature into the ritual.
The results of the process depend on the thoroughness and skill of the dragon mothering the egg however it more so depends on the creature used. In order for the ritual to be successful the creature must be strong and hardy as well as intelligent and charismatic, otherwise the result simply does not resemble a true dragon. Fortunately for the dragons, virgins tend to have an extremely high success rate regardless of physical or mental condition. Those who lack the physical stature to "ascend" often hatch into dragonborn from the process however half-dragons, draken, draconians, and other such draco-humanoid creatures can emerge depending on the degree of failure and other variables. Subjects lacking the intelligence and charisma required often hatch into guard drakes, war drakes, lion-drakes, wyverns, and other such creatures resembling dragons but being beastial in nature depending on the degree of failure and other variables. Subjects lacking both typically emerge as one or more dragon-ants, dragon like pests which know only greed and tend to group together into swarms. Although these failed subjects are sometimes killed more often they are put to use by the would-be dragon mother as servants or pets, and sometimes simply let go, however there is one variety of failure that the dragon always tries to kill.
If the creature used possesses an strong alignment opposed to that of the dragon the egg and does not possess the requirements to "ascend" they will simply expire before even hatching, or worse yet hatch into a formless ooze creature or similar abomination. However if the subject meets the requirements to "ascend" they will hatch into a dragon of an opposing alignment to the dragon hatching them, lawful good gold dragons hatching from chaotic evil black dragons eggs, lawful evil blue dragons from chaotic good copper dragon eggs, etc. (note that although this is hypothetically possible in gem dragon eggs it is highly unlikely as few creatures will oppose the neutral element of gem dragons alignment to a strong enough extent). These dragons rarely escape their mothers as no dragon will tolerate the interference another of its kind that is opposed to it could bring nor will they allow the knowledge of their failure in this regard to get out lest they have their reputation tarnished.
Due to the extensive energy and effort required to create dragon eggs and the possible consequences of failure most experienced dragon mothers will pick their potential children only after extensive scrutiny and tests, whether the creature is aware of it or not. This is why some dragons simply spy on creatures and kidnap them if they deem them worthy while others will establish cults or monasteries dedicated to testing their members to find someone who is the most worthy of "Ascension". If successful the resulting product will be a dragon wyrmling of the same kind as the dragon who mothered it. Upon birth the new wyrmling loses all memories of who it was before its reincarnation and its mind is instead filled with the self-awareness of what it means to be a dragon and its capabilities as well as a very loose understanding of the nature of the world, things fall when they go up into the air, creatures are birthed, creatures are killed, creatures age, plants grow, etc., time and change has everything in its grasp except for the wyrmling itself.
