Hours before sunrise on 19 Sunclimb 1728 SR, Lord Astraios Khonsu Hobétotho was assassinated in his home--the Ephesian Beacon--by the Church of Light under the order and command of Pythia Dolorosa Heliodoron, who was reportedly gravely injured in the fighting that ensued upon breaking into Khonsu's home.

The Matriarch of House Hobétotho, Lady Héos Bast Hobétotho, was quick to make a loud declaration of the Church's and Pythia's roles in the plot. This event triggered protests and scattered rioting all throughout Outer Umbar as the Umbarim demanded clarity and justice.
