The Pure
The Moral and Truth - The Pure
Core Alignment: Lawful Creative
Domains:Light, Life
The Pure is often venerated and sung about by the bards, and they are often seen as childlike and kind, as many seem to believe that only with the innocence and purity of childhood can people lead to the actions of goodness and charity that are attributed to their mantle. The truth is far more complicated. The Pure formed around a smooth pearl, not clean and white, but with hints of color and flaws. The Pure saw injustices committed by both Gods and Mortals alike, and raged with a righteous fury.
Unlike the Demons and Devils found by the Temptation, the Pure’s fury attracted the attention of the Angels of Ciel, who did not stay upon their Reclamation Plane, and wait, instead coming to Kalio seeking the attention of the Pure Directly, hoping their ideals of a regimented society lacking the corruption of “Sin” would attract the God. The Pleas of the Angels did sway the Pure, and the following years, long before the Void struck at Kalio, the Pure began a crusade with their army of Angels, attempting to fix what was wrong with Kalio. They found resistance everywhere they went, as their rigid expectations were enforced with no understanding, no compassion, simply a pure lack of corruption.
It was the Agathions of Valheim who interceded and they overpowered and kidnapped the Pure, at great cost to their own people, as many died in the battles between angels, mortals, and their own. They could not kill the Pure, as no force yet known to Kalio could end the life of a God, so they attempted to show the Pure the ways they could truly give the world Justice and Good, the things they were shoving down the throats of everyone they could. Good and Justice were just as destructive and horrible as any corruption could be. The people didn’t appreciate the god, fearing them, hating them, and rebelling against this tyrannous “Good”. It only created more Darkness, Darkness that attracted the Void more and more.
The Agathions fought and taught and lives with passion and fervor, but they showed compassion, and understanding, charity for the fallen. Their families. All who were part of the family. Sure, the Agathions lived in a measure of chaos, with messes following their reckless emotional lives, but a sense of community and healing lived with them, and the Pure learned from them. Slowly, and sometimes at the end of a headbutt and knife, but they understood their own unique point on the world. Structure and compassion. Guidance and Understanding. Combining the ideals of Ciel and Valheim, the Pure returned to the lands taken by angels, rebuilding all that had been destroyed at the blades of his army. They offered themselves in penance and restitution. They offered a true and sincere apology. It was a slow and painful process, but healing came to those who were harmed, and they began to have faith in the new Pure. When the Void came, it was this devotion of the reformed Pure, that lead mortals en masse along with angels and agathions side by side to face the darkness blazing with the light of Morality.
Modern Mantle Holders often benefit from this love of the past and the actions of mercy, the Pure and many of their Mantle Holders have accomplished. Thousands of cults and religions attempt to use the Pure and the Temptation of two sides of the Morality coin, but the more you examine each of their stories, they show how good and evil blend, there’s a scale that occurs, and when some sees just one or the other, they misjudged the spectrum entirely.
