Ruler of the Wilds - The Mother
Core Alignment: Chaotic Natural
Domains: Nature, Air, Water, Earth, Creation, Life, Beauty
The deep emerald of the Mother’s gem has always been something historians have latched onto when telling the tales of the Verdant Lady. Where her Gem was plucked from the soil, flora, and trees of all kinds came pouring from the hole that was left, and for years, each step of the wild woman brought new life with it. Her laughs called the winds to sing songs, plants flowered in her presence, and when she cried, rivers formed in the wake of their path, as the land wept with her. She was the first of the Gods to travel beyond the Veil of Kalio’s memories, and she found a land whose beauty reflected her own. The Everwilds and the Fae creatures that lived there found her to be one of the most enchanting things in existence, and from her mingling, with the elder Fae the Ilsiri were born, the Wild Ones of Kalio.
However, her beauty conceals the Beast, and when the void came for Kalio her fury was unleashed, where her blood was spilled as she struck out at monsters, the Ilsiri mixed it with the blood of the Void Beasts, and the stones that formed from it became the great Dragons, Kin to the Ilsiri and their companions in the Great War. Their pure elemental fury raged across the surface of Kalio, bringing the brunt of nature to bear against the Horrors of beyond.
When Kalio fell, the Mother disappeared into the wilds, inconsolable and angry at the world, though it became clear that like her Brethren, she surrendered her heart to the World, somewhere deep in her wild jungles.
Often worship of the Mother is conducted by those who live in the Wilds, and the Ilsiri worship her above all, except Kalio herself. However, farmers also seek her blessings from day to day, to help their plants grow, to placate the wilds from reclaiming their lands, and bless the animals that were tamed from her wilds. Parishes are often lead by a man of the land, instead of formalized priests and priestesses, though there are faiths that are called Beastspeakers, and they are often Druids who have come to understand the animals of the wild, or its wild plants more than anything, and commune with her in those ways.
Core Tenants of the Mother’s Faith
•The closest a mortal can come to experiencing the divine, is to indulge in your base nature as animals and creatures of the wild. Hunt, survive, struggle, and dig your toes in the ground.
•If you force nature to conform, then expect it to fight back. Natural instinct will never be lost.
•Plants and animals are not creatures of Morality. By becoming like them, you escape the shackles placed upon you by civilization. In a World of the wild, there is no Murder. There is merely survival.
