The Fortunes

The Three Fortunes - The Writer, the Editor, the Reader Core Alignment: Neutral Domains: Oracle, Luck, Fate, Creation, Ends, Journeys     The gem that was chosen by Kalio for the fortunes was never stable, a nearly perfect piece of moonstone, that seemed to swirl with color and mystery. But as the power of their mother flowed through it, bringing life to the gem itself, it split in 3, and the pure life energy within formed 3 separate beings, all tied together at the core by a literal thread of light. The youngest of the three to form is the Writer, creative and working on making lives and paths from the pure luck and chaos, into something with structure and possibility. The middle child of the three is the Editor, watching life and ensuring that it is lived to its fullest, empathetic and careful, judging souls to see if they are meant for the destinations they belong in, where they will become new. The oldest of the trio is Reader. She watches over the end, making sure the journey has met its final destination, she does not judge, but she does see where the path ends and draws her own conclusions. These three are enigmatic, but they see the paths that life is supposed to take, as well as the points where life meets its crossroads. During the War, they each had their hands full, bringing the new souls into this world as fast as the void seemed to snuff them out, and trying to help guide everyone to the best culmination of their lives. During that period, the public viewed them as a bit of a butcher, making choices that sometimes seemed to make no sense, as they would condemn a group of soldiers to a cause that would be a pyrrhic victory, only to lose so many at a greater loss. But as time went on, and there were retrospective looks at the War, it became clear that each calculated loss or victory kept pushing mankind into the spot it needed to be, in order to take the war in the way it did. They exhausted people enough to make the heroic moments possible and found ways to provide rest any time morale looked like it was about to falter. However, when the War ended, the Fortunes were so out of favor, they were driven far to the west, to a series of Islands that seemed to fade in and out of existence, moving around, and sometimes sinking into the ocean and raising up in such rapid fashion, they hoped the Fortunes would be forever lost. Finding their respective temples takes true effort, and trust in faith that the Fortunes have put you on the right path, as Dragon Turtles live among those waters, and what may appear to be one of the roving islands at first, may make a meal of you. Modern Incarnations of any of the three Fortunes may look at the world, seemingly less powerful than any of the other gods, but they find strength in knowing their paths are connected, and their power only grows as they come together. The few that follow their faith tend to believe that life has a path set for them, but those crossroads are where mortals truly make a difference in life. A decision made at these crossroads potentially can not only change the path you’re supposed to take, but can ripple out and influence everyone around you, even sometimes affecting the world, and changing everyone’s path that those who face it are not alone, and they are understood.     Core Tenants of the Fortune’s Faith Belief in Fate does not mean mankind does not have a choice. There are simply paths of least resistance, and to those of you who can see those winding roads know you can step off the path as easily as you can step off the road. It just will not be easy. There are a few moments in every person's life that matter more than any they take before. They will determine so much about the future to come and will make every other moment pale in comparison. Do not shy away from these moments. When they are complete, you will shine brighter than ever before. Do not believe that simply because your story is simple, that no one will listen to it. The story of a turtle and a Rabbit are about two of Kalio’s simplest creatures, but it has a point to tell.
