Orgar

The only Duregari city that allows in foreigners, Orgar is the worlds best glimpse at Duregar culture. Duregar are a militaristic and rigid people, and Orgar is a reflection of that. While they will trade with the outside world and occasionally participate in its politics for the most part the Duregar prefer to be left alone, even in Orgar. Part of this rigidity comes from the cultural shame that comes from being the product of a Demon curse, and they have taken this cultural shame and turned it into one of strict self reliance and control.

Demographics

Much more militaristic than their cousins, the Duregar take great pride in their combat abilities and the skills related to such. As a result weapon-makers, armor-forgers, and rune-casters are common. Everyone in Duregar culture is expected to serve a few years in its military when reaching adulthood, and a good amount of them never leave. 90% Duregar, 4% Dwarf, 2% Drow, 1% Human, 3% other.

Government

Orgar is ruled with a near-iron fist by the War Caller, the absolute authority in Orgar. He is advised by chosen members of the military, and upstanding citizens as he sees fit. All laws and decisions rest with him, and only he may choose the next War Caller. If the previous War Caller does not choose a replacement, candidates may put their name forward and fight in a free-for-all arena match with the last man or woman standing being the new War Caller.

Defences

Being so militaristic Orgar relies on its army to keep it safe, its spear phalanxes and fierce warriors a good deterrent against invasion. If that's not enough the whole underground city has lava flowing through it, including lava streams carefully controlled by the Duregar to act as veins of the city. These lava flows can be controlled and unleashed by the Duregar.

Industry & Trade

Duregar are a self reliant people, but will export small amounts of their goods for gold.

Infrastructure

Like many other Dwarf and Duregar cities Orgar has a lot of smiths, rune-masters, and related tradesmen.

Architecture

Duregar architecture is harsh and spartan, with function taking preference to form. When form is considered dark and red colors are used, with an emphasis on an "earthen" look.

Geography

While the area around Orgar might be predicted to be cold, it is actually temperate and warm due to the abundant hot springs and warm flows from the fact that the Duregar built in a volcano.
