Family Ties
William Miller. This was Isaac’s grandfather, and one of the toughest men he ever knew. He was someone who loved stories—telling them himself or listening to them from others. He was what they call a man’s man.
He was a tall man, 6'5", as long as I knew him. He had silver hair, deeply tanned, almost leathery skin, and sad eyes. He was always calm and slow to anger, but don’t let that fool you—he would fight for what he believed in with a kind of force like no other. He deeply loved his family, and to him, blood alone didn’t make you family. His friends were family in his mind. He’d do anything for them, even when someone unintentionally screwed up—he would always find a way to help them out. He was a man of his word. He always said, “You have to stand for something, or you’ll fall for anything.”
