Story Concept: Animal
Outside as the Isynx have their weekly feast/party where many families come together to share this week's family’s hunt. The feast has yet to begin, and it’s too rowdy for the only humi in the village. In the distance is a large structure that is a tram system to connect the remote village to a larger one (large arches holding the road in the air, curving off into the distance). He (smokes?) and is greeted by one Isynx who left to puke out his drunkenness. After a short, and wholly unproductive, conversation the humi leaves to see what wildlife he could.
It comes across two ribbon-like things in the distance. He’s distracted with his caretaker (the head of the family he is housed with during his stay) and looks to see the thing gone. He’s sure it was a creature, he could feel it’s aura. But he had never seen anything with appendages like it.
He goes to inspect the other side of the snowdrift where he thought he saw the creature. All that was left was a cone-shaped hole. He wants to preserve it before it is filled by more snow or something else happens, but he doesn’t have any of his tools. The head of the house comes out to bring him inside. Man convinces him of the importance of this creature. He’s brought in, saying nothing will happen to it as the blizzard won’t be there until tomorrow midday.
He returns to the hall and joins in on the feast (scene of rowdy isynx, two Solumkerd, all having a jolly time together. The humi eats in relative silence until his host brings him into the conversation)
He goes to bed early but actually scrubs through many notes, books, and myths to find any relation to the creature he thought he saw. As the day breaks, he loses hope, thinking what he saw was some kind of hallucination. The youngest child (only two children in the family and one is much older) comes in to find him bathing. He’s shocked and asks what happened to his fur. Humi explains that he’s naturally hairless and that what he’s seen him in is a coat he wears because he’s not naturally good with the cold (fur coat of white furs that he bundles in (kneehigh boots and one coat that covers the rest of his body with a hood like a poncho but more fluffy and hot)). A child wanders off contemplative after telling him the reason for his visit, that their father, the host, wishes to see him. The child has never seen a humi before him.
He dons his coat and talks to the host about the creature (Host is a female). They leave with another (male) to investigate.
With another of the family, they investigate the area in which the guy found the creature. The only thing left is a cone hole. The isynx, who has heightened smell even for an isynx (is why he moved in there, as they help him with his studies) notes that there is an odd smell that they hadn’t smelled before, thus confirming the existence of the creature, bringing the weight if he was hallucinating off his shoulders.
Panicked as the clouds are already dark and the wind picks up, he needs some tool to mold the hole for further study. Isynx says they know someone in town who has insulating gel. The man rushes off through tunnel and out into town with one of the isynx’s ohbz to lead him the way to the proper place (since he’s only been there about a month). Ohbz hides behind his neck under his hair (his hair is long as he never felt to trim it, and it helps him with the cold, so he’s less inclined to now. Ohbz naturally gravitates to hide in fur). Knock on the door, ask for a bit of insulation after greeting (man is pressed for time). Female Isynx asks them to wait, closes the door, and returns with a small vial of pink fluid. Man realizes he doesn’t have money to pay. Isynx says she’ll put it on the host's tab (system runs more with ledgers of debts rather than actual money). The man rushes back as the storm begins. Isynx has positioned itself in front of the wind to protect the hole. They pour the liquid in and cover it with snow to hopefully help it not blow away when sitting. The storm is too close and Isynx brings man inside, though he wishes to stay to be able to retrieve the mold.
They are gathered as the storm rages outside. As is tradition, they tell stories to one another. Though each story group is sectioned off as some of the adults wish to talk about other things such as business or gossip that is not entirely wanted or appropriate for the larger group. Elder is telling fairy tails suited for the cub. Humi listens into them absently as he worries about the mold outside. Elder finishes one story and asks what the child wishes to hear. A child asks for a new story. Elder tells the story of a nasty bird that gobbled up a twins family because they went into the woods without a hunting party. The bird is eerily similar to the markings left by the mystery creature.
Man retires to his room to investigate the myth. (in story bird has a massive beak and swallows isynx whole. Tale is to instill that it's not good to enter a forest alone)
