Heart of Keva
The Heart of Keva is an enigmatic object that doesn't fully exist in one world or another. It appears to be the still-beating heart of some giant. Though this is hard to tell as every thought about the perception of the object is incongruous with the next. The object is there, it takes a specific amount of space, it is a color and shape, but the attributes to define it can not be fully understood. It beats slowly, every pulse reverberating through the abyssal tunnel Almut'alatl is positioned in as if calling out to an entity far below.
There are not many creatures that live in the city. Those that do have a limited space to exist and limited means of sustenance. The primary creatures one can converse with are the Ayabba’aru who created and sequestered the city and Urie who live under and in the walls just outside the city, venturing in to take objects to fill their homes. Gardens of Estebyel are farmed by the denizens, feeding off the jyk fixtures brought down by ancestors. Crowing the city, at the base of the staircase to the only entrance and exit with a lock rusted with age, is a long Auruunai tree whose roots seem to ensnare the city, seeming to pulse its fires in tune with the heart.
The heart is the object that seems to provide energy to the city, fueling the machinery and providing sustenance to the plants the creatures eat.
When not next to the heart, life is able to keep itself together, likely to do the densities of the individual The Soul resisting the influence of the change on their body. However, when close enough to the heart, any living thing will not have enough willpower or individuality to deny the heart's influence. This leads to irreversible deformations of the body when taken away if this is possible. These deformations, unnatural and unplanned for by the organism, have always led to death. Therefore, those guarding the heart cannot move it to defend it, though they worry little if anyone would try to take it for they too would succumb to a terrible death. This would not stop some machine built to move it from taking it, so guardianship is still required.
Guardian
The people of Almut'alatl have taken it upon themselves to protect this artifact from those who would use it to do harm. To this end, they sealed themselves off from communication with the rest of the world for generations, unaware of the tragedies happening right above them in the nation of Raehyr. The city, though ever-shifting in its space, is traversable enough that the people and creatures that call it home can live their daily lives. There are not many creatures that live in the city. Effect
The closer non-living things are to the heart, the more distorted in space they will be. In Prohweda, the edge of its influence, the shapes and textures of things slightly shift if paid attention. However, in Almut'alat, entire city sections appear and vanish at the turn of a head. For the denizens of the city, this has been their entire life, so they are able to navigate around the shifting geometry, but not without effort. Next to the heart, the effects are beyond mortal comprehension. The heart itself is a form that no one can fully ascertain. When not next to the heart, life is able to keep itself together, likely to do the densities of the individual The Soul resisting the influence of the change on their body.
