Taking of Aringale

Political event

223 AE

Word came that the witch queen (their title for Isolde) had finally died. The Erayax watched to see what would happen next. They had amassed enough of a force to seriously consider invading the south. When the reports began pouring in that there was dissention causing massive instability across Ashnoor the Council took pause, they recognized collectively that the fruit was not yet ripe for the taking. Their whisperers remained active in the south, they were now not only tasked with ongoing information gathering, but also now, infiltration and further destabilization where they could. There were already some highly placed Erayax in Ashnoor, they could now be of serious use. Those charged with agitating and causing civil unrest in the outer areas of the Kingdom had done their job. Now the real espionage would begin. The council did not care whether it was espionage from their people or an inevitable conflict, but the outbreak of the succession wars set the Erayax on a new course with their goal being to now remove the Ashnoorians and take their shining capital Aringale. They would work now to exploit every division the civil war now provided them. There were differences of opinion amongst significant blocks in the council of what fate should befall the city – this remained undecided largely until just short of the end of their storming of the city. The city mostly was to survive. There were those Erayax who placed significant value on some of the less obvious riches of the city.
