The Dargoons, enlist support from their fellow Hadoveans to surprise the Syndicate during their meeting to discuss the ranson of Null. Resulting in the tables being turned on the Syndicate and Null being released

Record from the journal of Lysandra

" Dear fellow Syndicate members, By now word has surely reached all of you, that our negotiations with the dragoons about Null's release went disastrous. Instead of the expected supply boat, an assult boat pulled up and we got boarded by vastly superior numbers of empire forces. We were very quickly overwhelmed. Noone will ever be able to doubt Tombs and Bailin's bravery. They fought fiercely, a fight they could never have a chance of winning. They got cut down and would have bled to death were it not for the superb dragoon healers. However Tombs kept fighting and dying repeatedly...Though I admire the bravery, this was only ever going to end up with him dead or bound like Rodrik. He had set of the powder keg and nearly took out the whole boat, but some healers survived and brought us all back. Him, after having him bound. So my options were were very limited: fight the entire forces with a tiny dagger, foul language and empty threats? That would have me either dead or bound too. That would neither save Rodrik, nor the rest of the syndicate, nor my crew and ship. So, although I was just as furious as Rodrik at the hostile takeover of my ship, I swallowed my anger and did the only level headed, logical option available. Lord Orlat offered Skarlette and myself to remain unbound upon our word of honour. We would have been mad to refuse. So we cooperated. Because of that, I was able to convince the healers to bring back Tombs and Baelin (repeatedly), as they otherwise would have been left to die. You are welcome! I was also able to assure the return of my ship and safety of my crew, by assuring to pay the price. Two battles with the comitted ships of Skarlette and myselfs on the dragoons side without pay. This is what safed Tombs and Baelin from also ending up in the cell next to Rodrik but being released instead. Again, you are welcome. And it assures that Rodrik will be treated way better than he ever treated poor Null. I hope you can all agree that I was never in a position to save Rodrik from capture, but I did my best for the rest of the syndicate by cooperating with a superior force. Of course Rodrik, that stubborn bastard, didn't see it this way. Wether he spoke in the heat of the moment or wether he will still hold that view after thinking things over calmly, I do not know. But he did mark my sister and I as traitors and put us on his death list. So for now I'll be paying the negotiation price to the dragoons and stay out of his way once he gets released, flees or gets rescued. I gave my word not to assist in any attempts as you may imagine. Till we meet again, I wish you all well.

Rodrick was later relased by the Dragoons satisfied he had sufficently learnt his lesson
