Vent Smoked Eel
Overview
A common food found across all aquatic communities surrounding Bolvaria is Vent Smoked Eel. Eel which have been abundant in the waters surrounding Bolvaria and have only grown in population since Azin's Collision. Along the oceans floor are Searpoints, areas on the ocean's floor that produce extreme heat. Due to the abondance of these Searpoints vent smoked goods have become a staple of aquatic cuisine, with Vent Smoked Eel being the most common in the area surrounding Bolvaria. The dish can be found across the aquatic floor but in recent years has found some success on dry land as well. Sailor in particular have been known to trade with aquatic populations and accept Vent Smoked Eel as payment along with other aquatic delicacy's. The Crossplank Flotila has become a central hub for aquatic cuisine above the ocean.
Preparation
After the Eel are caught the Kelpsmokers skin them, season with their own blend of seasonings, and wrap the meat in kelp. Once the meat is prepared the Kelpsmokers bury it near the Searpoints and leave them to cook days, sometimes weeks depending on the Kelpsmoakers experience and specific recipe. Once the Eel is ready it is removed from it's pit and sent to be sold by distributors.
Vent Smoked Eel is used in a lot of different ways including as a street sold meal, an appetizer or side, and even as a main dish.
