The Verdant Cycle

History

The Verdant Cycle began in the Eastern temperate portion of Bolvaria prior to Azin's Collision. This ritual was used by the agricultural focused region near the Heartfrost as a way to pray to Naiek for the crop cycle to begin a new. While the ritual began in the temperate region of Bolvaria it was adapted from other rituals used by The Church of the Ten Pillars to pray to Naiek. It would also be used as inspiration for other rituals similar in nature to request the beginning of a new cycle including those used for animal husbandry, arborists, fisherman, and even craftsman who rely on the passing of time and other natural cycles to work.

Process

The steps for the ritual itself are rather simple in execution and are embellished to suit the desires of the performers.

1. A portion of the crops grown in the previous cycle are collected at each stage of growth from a seed to a fully harvested crop.
2. The crops are placed in a circle to mimic a clock starting with the seed and ending with the harvest..
3. The crop is destroyed in the order that mirrors the growing stages. Starting with the seed and ending with the harvest.

These basic steps are the foundation of The Verdant Cycle and are brought to the scale of the mortals who perform them.
