Foes

Ferenne touched the face of Alagar, the inspector who'd come to investigate her criminal activities. He didn't respond, of course. She leaned forward and kissed him on the lips, and he again stayed motionless. Of course she did.

She moved on, caressing the shoulder of the young man who had found the hidden warehouse. She didn't even know his name, or whether he had been on her trail or just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It didn't matter. He was here now.

She stepped back and looked at the others. A dozen all told, staring in various directions, motionless. The paralytic agent she had injected them with would see to that.

This wouldn't stop them, of course. They would have other duplicates. Still, she liked having copies of her foes here. They made for an interesting collection.
