The Feanorian Network
The Feanorian Network: A Comprehensive Account
written and accounted for by Tacitor Kilvern of the First Bard of the Fen Aidun Council, Second Day of Mist 3600 AGF
Amidst the profound societal and political currents now sweeping through Elgarneth and Saco Kadavach, the entity known as the "Feanorian Network," or by its fervent adherents, the "Voices of Liberation," has firmly established itself as an organization of considerable import and burgeoning influence. This intricate web is personally orchestrated by Feanor himself, and its newly established military arm also bears the evocative name, the "Voices of Liberation." The Network distinguishes itself by its robust financing, strategic acumen, and a remarkable capacity for effective infiltration, binding its diverse members through a shared conviction and a singular strategic ambition.
At the very apex of this ascendant organization stands the Asrai, Feanor, a figure of continental renown, mysteries origins and widely regarded as one of Elgarneth's most celebrated bards. He is, moreover, the venerable founder of the "Bearers of Tidings," a bardic guild that for centuries has diligently ensured the vital exchange of information betwixt the continents. Of late, Feanor has skillfully positioned himself as the central conduit for the teachings of the messianic High Elven philosopher, Elwe, and her radical peaceful, anti-slavery agenda. Known for his roguish stratagems, cunning maneuvers, and an undeniably political mischievous character, he has brought into being a formidable mercenary host, these very "Voices of Liberation." Officially, he pledges to his recruits not only great wealth and lasting glory but also the morally righteous cause of slave liberation. Yet, the true motives and the hidden benefactors who fill Feanor's coffers remain veiled in secrecy, though his extraordinary ability to sway the masses with his words is beyond dispute.
Elwe and the Slave Uprising
The dramatic ascent of the Feanorian Network is inextricably linked to the burgeoning, though initially non-violent, slave uprising that commenced three months past in the eastern reaches of Elgarneth, ignited by the pacifistic doctrines of the messianic High Elven philosopher, Elwe, whose tenets have spread like wildfire across Elgarneth and Saco Kadavach thanks to the "Bearers of Tidings" and early Elwite adherents; despite Elwe's own disavowal, a fervent religious movement coalesced around her, particularly amongst the millions of enslaved souls, rendering her teachings and the subsequent uprising a central political and conflict-provoking issue that deeply cleaves society, especially in High Elf-dominated Elgarneth, whose millennia-old prosperity rests on a slave economy, prompting varied Evanuri reactions that have forged four distinct political blocs and a perilous Cold War-like arms race, while an unorganized counter-movement emerges and cities hire mercenaries, drawing figures like resentful Dwarves from Saco Kadavach whose kin remain enslaved.
Objectives of the Network
The Feanorian Network pursues a multifaceted agenda, born from the pressing concerns of this tumultuous era. Foremost amongst its aims is the complete and utter abolition of thralldom across both continents, a moral imperative that serves as the bedrock conviction for all who enlist in the "Voices of Liberation," promising them not merely riches and renown but the profound satisfaction of serving a righteous cause. To this end, the Network diligently seeks to undermine opposing factions, such as the "Free Folk," by sowing discord at public assemblies and influencing political figures to their advantage.
Beyond these grand declarations, the Network exhibits a pragmatic concern for the acquisition and control of vital resources, most notably the nascent firearms now emerging into the world. Their deep-seated connections with the Oathbound of Karaz Karakor provide a ready source for such weaponry. These acquisitions are often facilitated by intermediaries, such as Hiwi Korhan, and include significant quantities of muskets and blunderbusses. Furthermore, the Network expands its reach through clandestine smuggling operations and direct acts of liberation for enslaved individuals, aided by groups such as Tal'Uriel's "Whispering Horns", the local Bard College and political contacts such as the Magnara herself as well several other Szlachta. Yet, amidst these aggressive maneuvers, a portion of their mission is dedicated to the protection of peaceful slave protests, with units like the "Shields of Resistance," composed primarily of Paladins reborn, acting as bulwarks against atrocity. It must also be acknowledged that certain allies, particularly the Oathbound of Karaz Karakor, harbor their own deeper ambitions, extending beyond mere liberation to include the reclamation of dwarven cities and vengeance upon the Evanuri, hinting at potentially divergent, yet strategically aligned, objectives within this broader alliance.
Author's Notes
As a chronicler of these unfolding events, one cannot but observe the profound currents stirred by Elwe's teachings and Feanor's audacious efforts. Though the path they tread is fraught with peril, threatening the very foundations of the established order and risking a wider conflagration amongst the Evanuri, there is a certain undeniable justice in their cause. One can only pray that the wisdom of Elwe, and the cunning of Feanor, might yet steer these movements towards a peaceable resolution, rather than a war that consumes all.
