Circlet of Divinity
Diplomatic Note:
Background:
In the far western reaches of the continent is the country Aasilar. The king of Aasilar is said to be born of an angel and given divine right to rule. The kingdom itself is capricious and wary of outsiders. They will not hesitate to apprehend anyone they think is disparaging the king's name. They hold little regard for international politics and customs. Do not assume they will follow customary international etiquette and rules.Religion:
The King and royal family have a complete and absolute control over the Church of the Most Holy Order of Good. It would be beneficial to attend all required worships and to speak to the king with reverence, for he is also the head of the religious order. The church belveis his will is divine and therefore must not be opposed. Negotiations will be difficult if at all possible.Fashion:
Commoners wear leggings and tunics that are familiar to the rest of the eastern continent. Commoners do much of the labor, enforcement, and service jobs in the country. As a result, their clothing tends toward more functional than fashionable. Royalty and aristocrats wear much more elaborate outfits. Often they are made of thin, flowing materials, such as silk, and layered to represent the layers of responsibility and servitude toward each other and the nation. However, fashion can also be capricious so styles may change regularly. The only constant is what is known as the Circlet of Divinity. Everyone in the royal family wears a circlet. The king's is said to be made from angel's gold, although it is unclear what that material is. The remaining members of royalty also wear circlets, but made from lesser metals to indicate their status. Distant members of the royal family may wear bronze or tin, while direct family members will often wear silver. The prince wears a gold circlet.Warning: It is forbidden by anyone outside of royalty to wear a circlet. Other headwear is deemed disrespectful. Remove and leave behind any headwear for the duration of your visit.
The only other members of society that are allowed to wear headgear are the clergy of the Church of the Most Holy Order of Good, but they are similar to a mitre and not easily confused with a Circlet of Divinity.
