28.05.2021 - Thunder - The hidden forge

General Summary

  • The statues start moving. They're glowing slightly from the inside, and look damaged from battle. Claw marks, burned. They are wearing the armour of Solinors
  • There are 4 pillars in the room, reaching almost 5 ft. into the air
  • They are inscribed with large runes in dwarven
  • The first golem moves to Arnini and Sylword
  • S blocks the two who haven't moved yet with a wall of fire, making it difficult for them to get to us
  • They seem to gain power and regenerate from it instead of taking damage
  • Oops...
  • The only time S heals is when he accidentally heals the enemy
  • All the golems are targeting S (because they saw him first?)
  • The first golem starts attacking T instead, since she is the one who did the most damage. It is swinging more erratically than normal
  • It only has one glowing eye (and one not glowing). T stabs it, making it go out
  • S disengages and tries to convince the golems that we're friendly by shouting in dwarven and showing his holy symbol
  • Void hits the frozen part of the first golem's head (caused by T), and delivers the final blow
  • Golineth starts reading aloud from the runes on the pillars, making  it light up
  • S animates 10 knives, but they doesn't do any damage (not magical)
  • S can't do anything without fire dmg and non-magical weapons…
  • The third golem, which we've been targeting starts attacking T instead (She did 41 dmg in one attack)
  • It misses terribly (needs to roll more than 4 to hit…)
  • Golineth lights up another pillar, and Cloud lights up the one she is standing by
  • C finishes off the golem we've been targeting
  • T hits the until-now-undamaged golem, and deals 44 dmg. A notices that one of its two eyes stop glowing (This is what gives it )
  • S uses his only non-fire attack: Sacred Flame
  • Cloud reads the final pillar, lighting it up, and causing the golems to light up with magic runes. The one still standing stops mid-action
  • C runs over and knocks on the golem. It doesn't react
  • S reads the dwarven: The runes describe a two-part binding spell. Preventing movement, and binding soul (T sees the eye is still moving)
  • C ties stuff from her mess kit, so that it will make sound if the golem starts moving
  • Cloud and Golineth is debating whether it said volcano on the pillars
  • We go down the left corridor
  • We walk for about 200 ft, before a bend in the hallway, leading to a solid metal door
  • T doesn't see any way to open the door (but she rolled a 1…)
  • S knocks on the door, and listens. He hears a faint song
  • We're unable to  open the door by normal means
  • T leaves to check the other corridor (Without telling the others)
  • S uses his signet ring to open the door, it is stuck (as if magnets), and the door starts slowly opening
  • S tries to Dispel Magic on the door, but the magic of the door is too powerful
  • They notice it goes a little bit faster when they're all pushing
  • S finally manages to dispel the magic from the door
  • The door is still moving
  • They keep pushing, and it starts opening faster. They estimate that it will be open enough to pass through in a few minutes
  • The others finally notice that T is gone, they try to yell for her, but she doesn't answer
  • (I zoned out when he was describing the room) It looks like a metal working workshop (?) past the gate
  • We've now spent enough time for the Arcane Gate to have closed
  • They investigate the pillars(?) in the main room. Volcano, Entrance, Living quarters (maybe something more, I didn't hear)
  • The room was a builders-workshop, where they built  bl.a. the golems
  • Some are religious in nature (superstitious protection)
  • A tries to pry out the eye-sockets of the golems (including the one still moving its eye)
  • They have a red gem in them
  • As the others are struggling with the door, T goes to investigate the other way (without telling the others)
  • She crits on a gm-prompted investigation check: Claw marks litter the hallway. 30 cm long and 5 cm deep
  • She immediately stealth (25)
  • She gets to a metal door that looks like it was forcibly broken open, she hears something moving further into the hallway
  • T hears S shout that we have to leave, then that we're not leaving (nvm)
  • T peeks through the hole in the door, and sees it opening into a vast cave, with a building within her range of vision
  • T starts heading back
  • S meets up with T, and she quietly explains what she's seen
  • We meet up with the rest (T sees A pry out the last eye of the still-alive golem)
  • T explains what she saw to the rest
  • Golineth goes pale
  • The door is open enough to go through now
  • Void has been trying to open one of the next doors, he finally manages to do it
  • It opens into a small storage room with a large sarcophagus, and tools on the wall
  • T immediately goes to investigate it
  • it is inlaid with precious metals, no gems. Very beautiful.
  • There are runes etched into the adamantine
  • The adamantine seems to be made out of two large pieces
  • The tools are mostly in good condition, with some being inscribed with runes
  • There are dwarven runes on the walls, but not as expertly engraved. Like small messages
  • Void sees that the sarcophagus has the same abjuration magic as the door, and bands of songsteel woven into it
  • S inspects the room
  • The runes on the sarcophagus are soul binding and abjuration protection
  • The runes on the walls are farewells, and a wish that what was spent was enough
  • S warns us not to touch the grave. "Let's not grave rob"
  • Then S tries to open the sarcophagus….
  • He feels heat emanate from it, and the song gets louder
  • S's holy symbol gets surprisingly heavy, warm and sticks to his skin. It almost hurts
  • The rest of us sees S staring into nothing and going stiff
  • His mind is pulled, and he hears a voice
  • "I am Master Builder Ironbraid. Is it time? Am I needed?"
  • "You are a sonnlinor, are you not?"
  • S says: I am Sylword
  • "It is time then. Let us begin"
  • S feels her pushing his consciousness to the side. He feels her inside his mind
  • "Relinquish control(?) sonnlinor, and we will get to work"

  • (We start worrying about the fact that we're letting the monster out into the city of the Awarth) (This is placed out of order)

Plan: Figure out what is happening to Sylword. Try not to die to the beast. Talk to Golineth about whether or not this place holds the secret to helping Cloud (Especially if this is inside the volcano). We need to get back in time for the Yomenië, and T would like to talk to Malagnim (hopefully before the Yomenië, but ok if after too)
