General Summary

  • We've approached the spinstress
  • There are exactly enough teacups for everyone
  • It's difficult to tell her species, but she seems robust and old
  • Her loom is running on it's own, and the thread seems to be drawn from the ground, and disappearing into the air afterwards
  • Thargnak rushes over to the statue
  • (from last session) The spinstress says:
  • The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.
  • Coty splashes some water on the statue, to no avail
  • The lady gives a cryptic answer about whether or not she did this
  • "Trust the Weave"
  • We sit down
  • The spinstress hands Bucket a freshly knitted napkin
  • Void asks where she baked the cookies, and a stove appears beside her
  • She will not eat them though...
  • Coty eats three cookies at once, and gains temp hp
  • They are the most delicious cookies she has ever tasted
  • The weave around the loom is connected to the statue, as if it is drawing something from the statue
  • She also drinks the cocao, and gets fire resistance
  • Scribes asks if the thread is fate or magic, or something else intangible
  • She answers something vague, but it sounds like fate
  • She offers to take a look at Scribes' thread
  • First she offers Scribes "tea" that is oil, Scribes gets Fire Resistance
  • The spinstress offers to either show a choice (in our childish ignorance), or see what the loom has to show
  • More thread gets pulled out of the ground and the statue, making a weave of thread in front of the spinstress
  • The loom says that Scribes is in endles agony of knowing, yet not fully knowing. But she gives the choice of closing and locking that route
  • Locking that route will entrap Scribes in the room for half a day
  • Scribes accepts
  • Coty sees E (Empusia's face in the cocao, looking angry. It disappears as the weave is locked away
  • The warm area has expanded a bit
  • Bucket asks the spinstress about the statue
  • She says that the dwarf was in pain, and now she's not. She's content to be part of something greater
  • He can just go talk to the statue
  • He convinces Thargnak to talk to the statue, he tenses as if hearing something, then responds to the statue
  • Bucket gets the same message in his mind
  • "I'm content. Free me if you like"
  • Bucket debates with her a bit, trying to see if her being content legally counts as her having been rescued
  • He then asks the spinstress her name. She wants him to call her "Grandmother"
  • Scribes ritually casts Detect Magic
  • Meanwhile, Bucket asks her to read his weave. He wants the choice
  • She beckons him closer to the loom, and then takes his hand
  • She is remarkably strong
  • She touches his hand to a thread of the weave
  • He takes 31 psychic dmg, and is charmed by her (And gets taken into the whisper channel :O)
  • We don't notice, but he mentions that it stings a bit
  • Bucket mentions that it was a good thing to to this, and "Grandma" agrees that pain is a good way to teach a disillusioned child
  • The statue was also taught this way
  • Bucket saw the next(?) three rooms, including E (Empusia's lair
  • A very large canvas with something missing, potentially a person
  • The grand exhibition, with a lot of people attending. Including Dreg’thal (The demon of the Green Eagles)
  • E (Empusia's lair. E was furious, and didn't pass the vibe check. It seemed like she was angry with whatever Grandma is helping up with
  • Grandma says that E does not like that souls are saved
  • "Places wear many names. Women wear many names and faces. Different faces, but always the same."
  • Grandma offers more treats, we're allowed to bring with us as much as we like
  • Parts of the shelves has been transformed by the light, into a cozy home with knicknacks and herbs
  • If we lean back in our chairs, it will turn into a bed
  • Void also agrees to get his thread read
  • He wants the choice, as he has a desired outcome
  • He takes 22 psycic dmg, and is paralysed (and gets some secret whispers)
  • Scribes finishes casting Detect Magic
  • The statue has similar magic to the other statues we found -> trapping the soul in the statue
  • There is strong abjuration magic around the spinstress, and in all the food and drinks
  • The thread is pulling magic, or something else from the statue
  • There is an inherent source of magic in the statue, likely the dwarf, which is being pulled from
  • All the threads are pulling from physical sources, and turning it into the abjuration magic
  • All the magic coming out of the loom is going in a singular direction
  • She informs the others, and Void let's us know that he is paralyzed
  • Bucket lays him down on a bed
  • Void tells us mentally about his vision. it was the same as Bucket, except:
  • The painting contained our party
  • Dreg'thal was afraid, looking over his shoulder towards a room with radiance
  • Erin is in the last room
  • Coty casts dispel magic at 7th level...
  • It works, and Void is able to move again
  • The lit area has expanded again. There's a pantry now
  • There is a centerpiece in the direction of the weave
  • Scribes sends her Spectral Spellbook
  • It looks at the different pedastals at the centerpiece
  • There are five books, three stools, a paintbrush, a black veil and ___
  • The books are:
  • A False Prophet
  • Eternal Hunger
  • The Starving Artist
  • A Mirror of Lies
  • A Tragic Masterpiece
  • She walks over to the pedestals herself
  • Coty casts more ice on The Egg
  • The others follow
  • As Bucket is leaving, Grandma asks him if he wants the pedestals moved closer. He accepts
  • The rest of us has to dodge the incoming pedestals
  • They stop beside the statue
  • Grandma explains that she put them further away initially, as they emmit infernal energy
  • The Weave (through detect magic) seems to flow into these pedestals, and then continue in a slightly different direction
  • Scribes and Void continue following the flow of magic
  • The weave stops at a wall of nothing, that reverberates when hit by it
  • It seems like an invisible bookcase
  • Some of the books have embossed titles, but neither Void or Scribes knows the language
  • Void tries to Dispel Magic on the invisibility effect, he has to cast it twice for it to work
  • The books look ornate
  • They are not in the same language as the other books, but keep the same encryption keys
  • The books seem to be shaking, and seem to want to go out of the shelf, but they're stuck
  • Void reads the titles across the books, instead of individually
  • The books describe the room as The Endless Agony of Never Knowing Enough, or Knowing Too Much. and The Archive of Forgotten Words
  • Void realizes that it is there because Scribes locked away that "future"
  • We assume that it prevents anyone from leaving or entering for half a day
  • Scribes asks Void about his read of the spinstress
  • He is not sure, but she has genuinly been helpful
  • We decide it's probably fine to take a long rest, and keep a sentry
  • Meanwhile, Grandma is reading the others a nighttime story, from a non-picture book
  • It is about the fall of the "Avae ya lor" - The First People
  • We found some of them in the place where we found the emperor
  • They had science beyond your wildest dreams, with arrogance to match
  • They tried to influence the weave and ascend, and make someone a god
  • To do this they made a terrible bargain, assuming they could trick their bargain partner
  • This doomed their whole civilization forever
  • This is what happens if you pull too hard on the weave -> it unravels and causes disaster
  • We take a long rest
  • Coty sleeps on The Egg, since she radiates cold. Bastian is laying beside her, with the egg on his back
  • Coty is tied to theegg
  • Bucket and Scribes holds watch with their Sentry's Rest, and the spellbook also keeps an "eye" out
  • Grandma tells us another bedtime story about recurring events
  • The light dims
  • During the "night" Scribes notices that Grandma seems to be circled by the weave
  • Her blue eyes turn golden and bright, as she becomes younger
  • Some of the weave trails around the party, making us feel more tired
  • Scribes manages to resist the effect
  • There is something celestial about the "Grandmother"
  • She has sprouted angelic wings
  • Scribes recognizes her as The Saviour, that the fanatics in the ice maze were worshipping
  • We lose all the food and drink effects

Plan

REMEMBER: Void does not have Nondetection anymore, Scribes' spellbook is summoned

Tell the others about The Saviour, and mention to her that Scribes knows

We must protect the silver dragon egg (it likes cold) - It has also been magically altered somehow

Void's sister is in E (Empusia's lair

Unstatue the last dwarf (Bucket's honor depends on it)

---------------------------------

Scribes should decode the infernal books (contains spells) - She has as many as can fit in her backpack

Sylword can cast Locate Object on the knife that was left on the other side of the Lorladon portal.

Scribes want's to save the last familiar

Scribes needs to read up on what pranks are, and think of one to prank Sylword and Bucket back. Since they told her to.

Learn the new spells: Aquired but unlearned spells

Scribes needs to talk to Coty about what happened with Lorladon (Coty wants to assemble her voodoo dolls first)

We should turn Custodian Auren over to the Path of Hill, claiming that we held him while we investigated his crime of impersonating the Emperor
