24.09.2022 - Scribe-5 - Fighting the Path of Light

• Coty flew in as a ladybug
• We snuck in as invisible people, but rolled really bad
• Scribe-5 took out one of the acolytes by polymorphing them into a turtle and keeping them in her pocket
• She used the disguise hat to disguise herself as one of them, while the others snuck into the next room and barricaded the room
• The acolytes are trying to get through the door
• Niels wants me to control Coty in this session, since Scribes is out of the fight
• They came in with a wall of fire and thunderous speaking, to try to convince the path leader of the error of her ways
• The leader was unconvinced, but surprised enough to be grappled by Bucket (with Void's help)
• Coty took dmg from the fire wall, but healed herself
• A tiny candle in the middle of the room, hovering over a mirror of liquid(?), flared up and blinded everyone except Coty
• Telepathic Bond is still up
• The leader's name is Elwindith Noroelwa

• Coty starts the fight of by casting Cone of Cold on all the enemies except one (too slow to move far enough), and Bucket who is grappling Noroelwa. Instantly killing two and hurting the rest
• Noroelwa sacrifices the light, plunging the room into darkness
• The three remaining acolytes step up to Sylword, Void and Bucket and tries to throw cloth over them. They want to cleanse their magic
  • Sylword and Void gets restrained
• Scribe-5 asks them over the bond if they need help, S says yes
• She tells the other acolytes "Fellow people. I will use magic to get the intruders". They somehow believe her
• She then Dimension Doors, and manages to get into the room, 5ft above the floor
• Noroelwa heats up her own armour, and makes it explode. Hitting everyone (including her minions) except Scribes
• The net covering Void has eye symbols on it
• S manages to break free, and hit the one restraining him with Spiritual Weapon
• The candle builds up and flashes again, blinding the same people as before
• Void finally gets rid of the cloth, but gets crit with another
• Noroelwa casts Calm Emotions, making Coty and Scribe-5 become indifferent towards her and her followers
• Void still can't get out of the net (Scribes cast Haste on him, but it doesn't really help)
• Noroelwa prays to the Lady of Light "I will become Attar, the holy light", and a radiant female figure rises from the candle
  • The being glide over to Noroelwa and carries her into the air and out of Bucket's grapple
  • Bucket tries to attack of opportunity, but misses
  • Noroelwa thanks the celestial creature, who smirks and flies over to Bucket and Void
  • Coty sees that she is holding a weapon, as she sweeps her arm towards Void and Bucket, causing them damage and ending the Calm Emotions before it had time to work
• Scribe-5 has memorized some information of the paths of Yin. She knows that the path of light's religion is illogical, like they can't decide what they're religion is. Like they're making it up as they go
  • Attar is something they wish to make true
• Sylword casts a Spiritual Guardians of his own, and ends his turn knocking Coty prone since he is blind
• Scribe-5 Counterspells a Fairy Fire, and Coty heals Sylword and starts to move toward Void
• The light being starts to sing in our minds "Protector of souls, just look upon her bowls", the words starts being magically etched in the ceiling
  • Scribe-5 is the only one who doesn't roll extremely well on the save, and becomes transfixed by the message
• Bucket gets restrained, but manages to slash one of the acolytes on their way to Coty
• Scribe-5 spends her turn studying the message, realizing that the words can make things into reality
• Noroelwa (out of sight of Scribe-5) prays and casts Strike of Attar (Flame Strike) on Scribe-5 and Coty
• Bucket gets restrained again, but Void finally escapes (he is still blind though)
• He blindly goes forward, telepathically getting the enemy positions, and kills the acolyte that kept restraining him
  • He smells of oil, and immolates himself
• Void can finally see again, and immediately gets Flame Striked (Coty as well)
  • Coty is down, meaning she can't use the Freedom of Movement she has spent 3 rounds setting up
• The acolytes from the entrance finally reach the room
• Sylword finally kills the acolyte that has been restraining him, but gets restrained by someone else
• Coty succeeds a death save
• The candle flares again, only Scribe-5 gets blinded this time
• Noroelwa is starting to become desperate
• Scribe-5 tries to Dispel Magic on the candle, but the mirror in the bowl underneath it grabs hold of her mind and brings her through it
  • She hears song, and feels as if she is being guided towards something
  • The song seems to want to tell her something about intent and place, leading her through halls
  • Images appear, born from the music, about intent, revenge, violence and struggle, contained within a golden dome-structure
  • She goes through the bubble and sees the palace of Hugo Sha
  • Something is wrong there
  • She is then dragged out of the bubble, and into empty space filled with machines
  • A male elf is the source of the song, Malagnim. It reverberates from him
  • Above him is a massive mirror made of obsidian and rusty metal
  • Within it are ethereal beings, including Selmyn
  • She says "Scribe, quickly!" before the vision ends (stunned until the start of her next turn)
• Bucket manages to Dispel the Guardian of Faith
• Noroelwa is frustrated that we won't bend to the light, she orders her followers to sacrifice themselves, and one of them steps forwards and lights themselves on fire
• Void kills the on fire acolyte
• One of the others light themselves on fire, making Sylword finally lose concentration
• Noroelwa starts chanting and moving towards the altar with the candle. "I will become Attar the holy flame"
• Sylword runs up to it and Animates Objects the pedestal, commanding it to run away. 8 of his knives also animate
  • It starts running away towards the exit
  • He tries to convince her that it ran away because it didn't want anything to do with her, but she rolls too high
• Coty suceeds another death save
• Scribe-5 tells the others about her vision, casts a terrible Toll the Dead and drags Coty over to Bucket to get him to heal her
• Noroelwa runs towards the light, recieving a hit from Sylword for the trouble
• Bucket heals Coty
• Noroelwa reaches out to the candle and her Lady Light, but is burned by the flames. This shocks her
  • The fire spreads over her body, and pushes out 30 ft.
  • The candle melts, and she in convinced that the Lady Light is leaving her
• Void gets the final three hits on her, despite her making it harder to hit. He decapitates her with the line "Seems like your time in the light is over"
• The battle is over
  • Coty and Scribe-5 finally get the cloth off of Bucket
  • Scribe-5 tells everyone to avoid looking in the mirror, saying she thinks they're using it to steal souls
  • Sylword ignores her and looks at the remnants of the candle in the liquid mirror
  • He feels something trying to grab his mind, yet is able to resist
  • Scribe-5 tells them the full story of the vision she got
  • She mentions the similarities between The Lady of Connla's Well and the Lady of Light
  • Sylword realizes that The Lady's last name is ASHfield
  • We discuss our options and suspicions, and decide to investigate the palace
  • Sylword uses Word of Recall to teleport us and the pedestal (including the mirror) to our headquarters
• Sylword mentions the prophesy we heard, and says that The Lady also quotes the same lines
• From thunder's sister, we heard Forest Blossom, Mother Bossom
• The pedestal is now called Peddie
