21.03.2021 - Thunder - Getting back to safety

General Summary

  • While flying Void sees a part in the west of the city
  • We land a bit south of the cat house (Not enough speed to get out of the city)
  • The cat house is made out of weird shapes, the windows are not symmetrical
  • T leads the group to an alleyway where we can land
  • A hits the edge of the roof when landing, but other than that we land ok
  • There are about 4 heavily drunk people out on the street
  • S puts on the watch cloak to cover his armour, and A puts on his fine noble robes that he stole, over his armour
  • We take a roundabout way back to the inn, focusing more on stealth than speed
  • As we near the procession it becomes midnight, and all the bells from all the temples start ringing
  • T notices ethereal beings start appearing and walking in the streets, not reacting to us
  • People are drinking the ghost ale liberally
  • The palace has started glowing with flickering wind streaming from the palace
  • The closer we get to the tower of forgiveness, the more spirits we see
  • It becomes harder to stay hidden with more people, but we have advantage from S being streetsmart (crit)
  • A, S and C does horribly. T crits (33 =) )
  • All the people are very drunk and very emotional from seeing the spirits
  • One of the spirits is a dwarf bearing the symbols of a sonelinor. He gives S a wink and continues walking. S does not recognize him.
  • The dwarf is walking towards the palace
  • People are handing out ghost ale and crazy saturated flowers
  • S and T notices that in some of the windows, there is a glowing, green, pointed leaf
  • The main road is called the Boulevard of the rising sun, since it goes west to east
  • There is a lot of people there
  • A trio(?) of guards are patrolling up and down the street
  • Also nobles have house guards
  • We try to blend in by acting drunk, so we can cross the street
  • As we enter the upper parts of town, S and T notices more glowing leaves in some windows
  • We reach the inn
  • S and T notices that the spirits around here tend towards yuan ti and elves
  • There's a celebration happening in the inner courtyard
  • The proprietor is wearing a pin with the glowing leaf symbol
  • She considers her words and calls it a joyous reminder of their ancestors. Things are about to change. The tree grows.
  • S tells the proprietor that we wish to check out. She will have a maid look for our tigers, and will send someone up to let us know when they're ready and bring us refreshments
  • We gather in S's room
  • A young female elf with a glowing leaf pin brings us refreshments
  • C asks about the pin, and she answers that you have it if you support the growing tree and the path towards growth(?)
  • We decide to bring our tigers and head down to the Awarth
  • S gives us his equipment and armour and asks us to take it with us, as he will go to the palace
  • A puts it in his bag of holding
  • A tries to bribe his tiger to listen to T while he's away
  • One of the stable hands has a bandaged arm
  • All of the stable hands are wearing the glowing leaf pins
  • The proprietor offers to keep our tigers safe. "Every animal is welcome in our garden", the other option is to follow the roots
  • She gets one of the stable hands to fetch a leather parcel
  • Refers to herself as a gardeners
  • "The roots grows stronger by the hour"
  • She hands T the parcel, it seems to pulse slightly
  • She suggest heading behind the stables.
  • S tries to track down the sonlinor by heading towards the palace
  • Since he's in an upper class part of town, in normal clothing, he is being questioned by guards often
  • He is left alone, but not unwatched, by saying that he is following an ancestor
  • The gate to the palace is constructed to look like a rising sun. It is currently open, and there are spirits and revellers walking about.
  • The closer he gets to the palace, the more elves and yuan ti there are (purebloods and mixed)
  • On a balcony high up, there is a heavily ornated figure looking over the crowd
  • S feels a female dwarf sonlinor spirit reaching for his hammer
  • S gives it to her, and she carefully inspects it
  • After a bit she hands it back to him. She then clasps her hand around the hammer as if suggesting that he holds on to it. Then she heads into the palace grounds
  • S follows her as she makes a path for them through the throng of spirits
  • There are nobles that are carried on platforms above the spirits trying to speak to them.
  • A palace guard starts discreetly moving in S's direction
  • S asks the spirit if she's his guardian, she doesn't respond but leads him to a small ethereal anvil
  • She clasps S's hand holding his hammer and puts her other hand on his heart and smiles
  • S asks "What if my heart is torn" says something about grief etc.
  • She chuckles silently and punches him in the heart. It is the first time he feels her interacting with him physically
  • He asks "can I trust them? I mean to, but everything is holding me back. Everytime I do, they leave me"
  • She finger-flicks his forehead
  • He argues a bit, but she gestures to the anvil
  • He walks up to it and brings out a spoon. When he smashes it he feels afraid, sorrowful and angry at the uncertainty of not knowing who to trust.
  • The anvil rings as the anvils from his upbringing, as if made out of the same material
  • Many of the spirits hears the anvil and starts heading towards him
  • The spirits surround him, and the guard approaching is stopped
  • They lay their hands on S in a calming gesture of empathy and understanding
  • S says "She taught me how to survive, and then she chased me with pitchforks. He taught me friendship, then he stabbed me in the back. He taught me ___, then he left me. What will she do(? teach me?)?"  (?)
  • In the end, he has created a key like no key he has seen before. It seems to reflect his emotions.
  • it seems to be half transparent and lit up with yellow light
  • Some of the spirits have gone more transparent/gone (happily)
  • The spirit guide takes the key and places first the key and then S's hand over his heart, then punches him in the heart
  • Then multiple of the guards breaks through and starts approaching him
  • The 5 guards present try to politely get S to leave and stop disrupting the ceremony
  • S starts heading to the sewers. There is more activity down with the awarth, and he quickly finds someone who will bring him to them
  • T hands the spice treat S gave her for the tiger to C, since C is better with animals
  • T's tiger Ghost keeps wanting to play instead, and T tries to make a game out of it. He is too young to know his own strength, so he keeps crashing into stuff.
  • T is trying to play in the right direction, and C joins in on the game
  • we find a small cellar behind the stable
  • There's a garden with large flower beds that are now ruined because of Ghost
  • We enter the cellar, that we can now see is a food and feed cellar
  • One corner has been cleared away
  •  T crits at finding the secret entrance. The ground har been tilled and is moist as if someone has been watering it as if they were making a flower bed on the floor in the cellar
  • Nothing happens when T tries to water the ground
  • C tries to Shape Water on the seeds that Void plants, nothing happens
  • T tries to step on the place that has been watered, and sinks about a foot
  • A starts digging with various devices, with guidance from C
  • He quickly digs a large hole
  • T opens the parcel and finds a pulsing tiny seed.
  • She throws it into the hole A is creating, and it rapidly starts growing into a tree. The roots open into an opening just big enough for one tiger.
  • We brings the tigers into the tunnel, that is revealed to lead into the sewers
  • The tunnel stays open, and we notice that some of the leaves are growing
  • A human spirit is following Void. There's sadness in his eyes
  • V doesn't recognize him, but does notice some familiar features
  • The spirit seems to be searching into Voids eyes
  • Void asks him if he knows him. the spirit breaks eye contact and assesses V, then grows stern.
  • He tries to say something, but there's just noise and sound of wind
  • Void asks us if we understands, then apparently is getting translations from the voice in his head
  • Since all the spirit does is stare, V starts walking again
  • The spirit follows
  • We reach the Awarth capital, Faalanaar  (Where the tree is)
  • They welcome us with open arms
  • There's a sense of purpose and excitement, and we're treated as heroes
  • They will supply us with anything they can get their hands on
  • We get our own rooms, and our tigers are taken care of
  • Everyone is wearing the green leaves, and the air is filled with magic
  • We end the session by getting rooms/resting places and levelling up ^^
