20.12.2020 - Thunder - Flow of magic

General Summary

  • T and C are heading back (?) to the inn
  • On the way a middleaged female human grabs T
  • Asks for help getting some 'nasty elf addicts' out from her basement
  • T follows C to check it out
  • No one wants to enter her shop, knowing that the elves are in her basement
  • T knows about the rasism/isolating from magical races
  • Also knows that some people gets addicted to magic
  • Goes into the basement
  • A cage in the corner the size of a big dog
  • In it are two starving looking, dark blue-skinned elves
  • T gives them food, and introduces heself as Bird
  • They are Vulmar and Alea (male and female)
  • Insight, they will most likely behave (maybe)
  • T notices a hidden entrance in the basement
  • They finally admitt that it goes to the sewers
  • To bribe them to tells us more, C gives them more food and Ghost Ale, which apparently consists of magic
  • They don't know if the sewers connect to the tower
  • T notices their necklaces have crystals in them, which now glows
  • Vulmar uses magic to open the cage
  • We let them og, and he promises that he'll remember this
  • T wants to find out if the sewers connect to the tower of Forgiveness
  • The tower is to the west
  • The corridor is going south to north, the elves are going north, so we decide to follow them for now
  • T leaves ballbearings
  • Suddenly we hear yelping, and several feet running
  • We try to hide, but C is bad at it
  • Three withered are running towards us
  • Behave similarly to zombies, but more aware
  • As T shoots the first one, C turns into a baby seal and swims over to the other bank
  • As she backs of from the zombies, the cat from before is standing before her
  • It is holding some ballbearings in it's mouth. Talks in T's head
  • He jumps over to the other side, picks up Coty with his mouth, start running in the direction of the withered
  • T doubles back, to use an intersection to get a long jump, and chase after the cat
  • The withered tries to wade across, but we're too fast
  • Void
  • On the way back to S, with the elf leading him
  • They come across a pack of 5 withered, but manage to sneak past them
  • There are different architecture in different sections of the sewers.
  • This one is much better craftmanship than the rest
  • The elf doesn't recognize this place (?)
  • (Niels said the name of the elf, but I didn't catch it)
  • There's a screaming wind kind of noise from an opening (Door shaped awning)
  • There's an arcane storm around a statue (?)
  • The elf says this is not normal
  • Explains that she's been researching the sewers
  • The laylines are off, maybe this is connected
  • V uses detect magic and relays the information: it's raw magic, not a specific school
  • The elf thinks this means that it's a Heartseed
  • It can potentially grow into a tree, which fruits could nourish them enough to make them less reliant on others magic
  • They would have to feed it somehow, or bring it to a better location
  • Asks if V would be able to move it
  • He uses mage hand to grab it, the storm doesn't follow
  • The seed starts to dim when moved further from the storm
  • The elf thinks the seed is feeding of off the storm, must find another source of raw magic to feed it
  • Should not move it out of the storm for long (??)
  • They decide to keep going, and assume no one else will try to take the seed
  • Arnini (and Sylword)
  • Is tinkering, when he crates something like a black hole (??)
  • Is teleported into the same force cage as Sylword
  • The cage is floating above an empty well
  • S is unconscious, floating in the air, and magic energy seems to be streaming from him into ___
  • Some of the people around (elves and yuan ti, at least 10), seems to be casting something through their focuses
  • They're all chanting the same thing
  • Casts cure wounds on S, waking him up
  • S promises that if they survive this, we're never splitting the party again
  • They try, but can't cast spells through the force cage (but can cast spells inside it
  • S tries to dispel magic, but realises he doesn't have any spell slots
  • S gives A permission to make explosions
  • A casts Fireball inside the cage, it does nothing but hurt them
  • The onlookers are shocked though, and some of the chanting stops, stopping the drain of magic from S and A
  • "Are they dead?", S and A immediately play dead (Badly)
  • It's at this moment Void is escorted into the chamber by his guide
  • She walks up to the leader (Glannin)
  • V asks A what he's doing here, but A's just as confused
  • V then goes over to try to convince the leader to let them go
  • He doesn't believe her about the seed and fixing the laylines, but V backs up her story
  • S mentions that he is strong. "Get my powers back and I definitely can"
  • Insists that he needs all his power back to do it
  • A pipes in that they will need his help as well
  • Comes to a compromise, and gives S his 5th level slots back
  • He dispels the force cage after moving it so they can land safely
  • They meet up with T
  • Seeing Coty hovering in the air, but not the cat holding her
  • S notices faint eyes and a grin
  • T asks, and realises no one else can see the cat
  • We recap what they've done
  • T gives S the butcher's knife
  • V leads us back to the seed
  • In the seed room
  • 30X30 meter(?) room
  • statue in the middle, elf
  • Hole in it's chest, going straight through
  • On the other side, solid metal door
  • T notices there seems to be magic flowing to the statue from the hole in the wall
  • Something glowing at the feet of the statue (seed)
  • S wonders if the door leads to the tower of forgiveness
  • The door is facing north-ish
  • T is resonably certain they're not under the tower
  • We og to investigate the hole
  • It seems to be manmade
  • Script and vines engraved (?)
  • Can't see the end of the long narrow tunnel seen though the hole'
  • S tries to jam his shield into the hole, it's very difficult and he only manages to cover it partly
  • As it is partly covered, the storm lessens
  • There seems to be magic flowing through the door
  • S casts Animate Object on the statue
  • He orders it to pick up the seed and walk towards us  (by the hole)
  • The storm is brought with it
  • (Niels described it in a way that makes me think of a water column being stopped by a rock. )
  • Nvm, the magic goes through the hole in the statue (because it is now facing the hole)
  • When we get the statue to turn slightly the magic goes into another hole in the opposite wall, not straight ahead and the magic has to bend slightly
  • This stops the storm, but the current is still there
  • Symbols on the wall glows (?) lighting up the door (?)
  • Maybe unlocked
  • The seed is being held in the stream. It remains fine
  • Void tries to push open the door
  • It's warm to the touch
  • He's not strong enough (?) to open it (Or doing it wrong)
  • The symbols are a type of ancient elvish, seeming to indicate that this is a vault door (We can't understand anything else)
  • T looks through the other hole, it looks like it goes into another room
  • V throws a pebble through after casting Light on it, it's about 5m to the other room
  • The holes are about 1m in diameter, the flow of magic filling about half of it
  • T goes into the hole, trying to avoid the magic, but not being able to avoid all of it as it tugs her along
  • There's a 4m drop down to a tiled room
  • A high celing that har flowing, glowing(?) scripts on it
  • Mosaic on the walls
  • Pictures of elves, same color as the one we've found
  • An enourmous mountain
  • A circle of stones in the center, maybe a well, not deep
  • T climbs down
  • The room opens up into something bigger
  • There is a petrified plant in the well, a tree stump
  • After T shouts to the party, she starts hearing metallic footprints
  • T hides behind the well
  • A large metallic being walks into view, dragging a greatsword(?)
  • Searching with it's one eye
  • It finds the glowing pebble, but dismisses it quickly
  • It eventually walks back
  • T tells the others to move the current to let her thorugh
  • Hearing her, the footsteps return
  • S and A redirect the beam with S's shield
  • Able to cover most of the hole
  • The door stops glowing
  • Thunder gets out
  • Different runes on the door glow when we say different elvish words

 

Plan:

Move the statue so the current is going through the hole in the statue, but into the wall, so the other hole is clear. Then investigate the tunnels/rooms

 

The current probably has to go through both holes to open the door, when we figure out the rest of how to do that.

 

A last ditch effort is to go through different elvish words and figuring out how to light up all the symbols, but I doubt that is the intended way to solve the riddle.

 

Might have to move the seed to the tree that I found
