19.08.2021 - Thunder & Scribe-5 - The Ritual

Lore for Scribe-5:

As a member of the Tritonian Wizards Guild, Scribe-5 has the rank of Adept which is above student and below teacher. As she is a new member, but as a high level wizard they can't make her start from scratch.

Adepts do not have to attend classes and don't have to teach. It is an intermediary rank meant for self-actualization. Figuring out what to specialize in etc.  If she convinces them, she might get the teacher rank with all that entails.

She has at least one mentor that could be a teacher of higher rank. Her mentor is Rust Sunfall, high/wood elf wizard. He is eccentric and carefree on the outside, but Scribe-5 knows that behind the mind's eye he is highly analytic. He is perhaps the smartest man she's ever talked to (so far)

the Guild is new in Tritonia, the former king preferred nobles and owners to control the use of magic and guide it as they saw fit. The guild is very much inspired by and based on schooling in its many forms.

This session

• When we leave the fog, the effects from it is reversed
• T hears that the volcano isn't completely silent
• Building parts are protruding out of the walls of the cavern
• the temple is even bigger than the massive volcano, which is maybe bigger than the city of Hugo Sha
• Marching order: Sylword, Thunder, Cloud, Coty, Arnini, Golineth(?), Toad (?), Scribe-5(?)
• Coty mentions that she would be able to put the volcano out. Cloud thinks she is very powerful, and insists Coty comes with her and T to climb along the cave walls later
• We reach the platform with the orb
• A part of the platform, with some symbols, have fallen off
• We discuss the idea of replacing the missing parts with ice, but then realize it might melt since we're in a volcano
• There's a tiny sliver of songsteel through each carving
• S will try to spend an hour to forge the songsteel into the correct patterns
• Scribe-5 shows S the sketch of the symbols

• S uses the leather apron and gloves he got as a gift from Ironbraid
• (A got a hammer)
• A and S dips the songsteel into the lava to heat it enough to forge it
• To reach the lava, A makes a pulley system to lower fire-resistant Sylword down. Coty keeps the rope cool enough to not catch fire. By using an ice water gun (?)
• As S gets close to the lava, his hand doesn't feel the heat at all (Because of the gloves probably)
• With the symbols made and placed correctly we can begin the ritual
• Scribe-5 thinks it is supposed to amplify the ritual
• A spell slot, don't know how high, is needed to start the ritual
• She realizes there is a second part to this process, a mind connection part
• Someone have to reach for the recipient of the ritual
• Coty casts Resistance on Scribe-5, and Thunder gets Warding Bond from S (with the necessary ring)
• Scribe-5 then tries powering up the ritual with a 4th level spell slot
• All the symbols light up one by one, into a pattern in the middle
• She feels connected. The power of the ritual is so much more than the 4th level slot she put into it
• As she starts thinking about the possibilities, that the possibilities increase exponentially the more power is put into it, her eyes starts shining.
• She sees motes of light, representing the mental imprint of her companions. She connects to the mind of Thunder, and instructs the others to start part two of the ritual
• Cloud is instructed to walk into the middle of the ritual, next to the orb
• S walks to stand on the symbol of death, using the pulley
• Scribe-5 connects everyone who chooses to participate
• She feels that the orb is like a black hole, next to Cloud's shining bright light
• As Scribe-5 warns people about it, T and Cloud feels very drawn towards it (mentally)
• Scribe-5 feels like it is a presence within this void
• The closer you look, the more you are drawn, and the more you see into a mind
• It is unlike anything she has seen, demanding
• Rejoice, it has arrived. Rejoice and pray
• Scribe-5 tells the others that she believes this to be the results of the ritual of the calamity, when they tried to make a god.
• She instructs the others to focus on each other, and why they are here. Cloud and Thunder clasp hands, and manage to tear away
• A flies over the symbol of restraint
• T stands on the symbol of the sage
• People outside the ritual see those that are a part of it have glowing eyes
• T tries to reach out for Cloud's mind, but is confused by a memory from Cloud's perspective when they were separated
• She tries again, and with the help of S and Scribe-5, she is able to enter Cloud's mind, and finds the conduit where she used to channel her magic
• She sees a mental shackle around the core
• T picks locks for a living, and sees this as a lock to be picked
• She manages to imagine the perfect key to the lock that wasn't there before
• People outside the ritual notice the light becoming brighter, and a humming song coming from the ritual
• Coty feels expectant, positive emotion coming from below. Strong and hopeful
• T sees the restraint fall off, and sees a ghostly version of Cloud, and feels love and nostalgia
• As T sees the ghostly version of Cloud grow, the others hear the volume increasing and Coty feels the sense of expectation increase. Coty also sees movement in the lava
• Cloud yells in pain, "it's so much!"
• T hugs the ghostly version of Cloud, to stop her from growing any more.
• The volume stops increasing
• Void steps into the ritual to warn us to end it soon
• Coty hears chants urging her to pour more power
• As she starts pouring her last 1st level spell slot into it, Void warns her to stop and Scribe-5 mentally throws Coty's mind out of the ritual
• The physical effect of this is a delayed reaction before Coty is flung to the ground, away from the ritual
• Coty notices that the voices are coming from below, but more the way we came than straight down
• Scribe-5 realises that to end the ritual, people inside have to exit in the opposite order of when they went in
• She guides them to exit the exact opposite way them came in
• Before S goes, he throws a rope to T to bind to Cloud, in case we have trouble. he signs to Coty and the others to pull him out with the pulley
• As he throws the rope, he glances at the black hole, and is drawn in. However he regains his senses when he is hoisted out of the ritual
• As Cloud leaves, the light shifts to a duller light
• Coty feels the motions from the lava becoming murderous as T leaves (Having become more and more desperate as more and more people left)
• Scribe-5 simmers down the magic and steps away from the ritual
• The songsteel symbols we made, that had been hovering above the lava through the magic of the ritual, drop into the lava
• Cloud is able to create a speck of light in her palm
• She strains, eventually bleeding from her nose and glowing from her eyes. The light grows bigger and bigger
• She starts to levitate, light shining from her mouth
• "Forest blossom
  Mother bosom
  Protector of souls
  Just look upon her bowls
  Listen to the heroic lions roar in anger
  We await her pillars."
• S recalls that The Lady said part of this when knighting Sylword and Manath
• T knows Cloud can tap into things that could potentially happen, or have already happened
• Arnini look at the orb, and notices that a creature is in the orb (See picture)
• Scribe-5 and Arnini go a bit closer to investigate (well… we might have almost created chutulu)
• S tries to check for signs of life, and touches the orb
• The orb is not able to be felt, but he can't push into the orb
• Scribe-5 warns him by reminding him that this was the creature who's mind they felt. S slowly backs away
• The plan now is to get out, rest and be ready for the Yomenië at mid-day. Scribe-5 knows it is 3 am now

The plan: See last point. Thunder no longer feels it necessary to talk to Glannon's opposition (Forgot the name)

It would be helpful for Sebastian if we had a conversation with Arini about his goals. (Void also has a goal that he doesn't mind sharing in character)
