11.08.2020 - Thunder - Dimensional Tabaxi death-trap
General Summary
- T runs ahead
- Finds a small statue, glittering in several? colors, as if half-translucent jade
- Looks like a small version of Cloud
- T touches the statue, and is immediately sucked into another plane
- A figure is standing on a pedestal close by, reading a book
- As this happens, one of Arnini's inventions start making sound
- He eventually finds it, and ethereal tentacles reach out of it and drags both Arnini and Sylword out of this dimension
- They appear on the floor in front of T
- The fog falls (still on floor) revealing a gnome, reading a book
- Almin the Scholar
- He's wearing a pendant of a compass, where the needle is a pen
- T has seen it before, in the captain's map she stole from the ship
- He's surprised that we're here, but continues reading
- Something is changing
- We shouldn't be here, we weren't here
- The book is full of map, but connecting lines etc. not landmasses
- It is changing as we watch
- He seems to know a bit about T, and her history, but not her name
- She gives him her name
- Based on this, he knows who the others are
- "If you value Nakhum(?) you will listen", "If you value what it says on your buttons (???)"
- Asks S "What kind of follower of Moradin are you, if you don't know what your button spell out"
- T threatens to burn his book, if he doesn't help us
- He goes serious, "You can try" (But shouldn't (?))
- He will reveal her sister, if we help him figure out what's going on
- T realizes it might be possible to change the past, and save Cloud
- The others asks questions, but eventually agrees to help her
- Almin says whether it's possible or not depends on whether or not we succeed on 'this'
- Almin flips through the book, and sends us to another dimension
- We appear in a room, with a stream of blood running through it
- Still the same ethereal music
- T hears low, screechy discussion, coming from the west
- S tries to open the steel door
- A thunderous voice speaking in a language he doesn't understand, deafens S (no one else hears this)
- It opens up into a hallway, with a wooden door at the end
- We go to investigate the voices
- Leaving a trail of bloody footprints behind us
- A goblin peeks around the corner, before rushing back
- A stairway, worn into a half-circle, with a hole at the top
- A beartrap before one of the entrances
- T disarms it
- Something starts rumbling, moving from above
- One of the hallways are full of dead, squashed bodies
- Two more crushed tabaxi in the other hallway
- A barred archway, with dwarven and elvish
- T understands
- Until am I not, yet you me I flown (words missing)
- S notices that one of the corpses looks a lot like Thunder, starts pulling out a diamond (to Revivify)
- A casts Lesser Restoration on S (with a gross machine, crawling into his ear), to clear his deafened condition
- Then explains that T is further in
- The boulder magically turns to follow the path we've taken
- T finds an iron portcullis
- A swarm of insects fill the floor behind it
- Someone has written on the opposite wall: "The walls listen"
- a door opens on the other side of the portcullis
- T finally finds out that one of the corpses is her sister. Realizes that the other corpses is at least very similar
- T finds an empty room
- When she enters, banners(?) flow down. Covered in arcane runes
- S reads the archway writing: "Until I am measured, I am not known. Yet how you miss me when I have flown."
- As the boulder reaches the fork, where we split up, it duplicates into two boulders, to be able to go both ways
- T breaks through a door, and a goblin is fired from a catapult
- She dodges, and someone else starts stepping into it
- T runs up, sees 10 of them blocking the hallway
- She nopes, and runs back the way it came
- S gives up on the riddle and braces for impact
- The boulder passes right through him, disappearing when hitting the wall
- As Arnini enters the arcane room the walls turn to wood, and everything starts burning
- A notices that there is a missing part of the arcane pattern, as if someone has cut it out, and replaced it with something else
- Arnini thinks this interrupted path is what Almin was talking about
- T tries to open a door, but gets stuck to it (Crits cutting herself loose). She and A decides that taking on the goblins are the best bet
- T steps into the room first, getting shot with a flying goblin
- She stabs him, and drops him on the floor
- A casts fireball (with a flamethrower) and obliterates the rest of the goblins
- S manages to open the riddle door
- Inside is a large demon-like creature
- S nopes out of there, and runs towards the rest of us
- S (and the demon) reaches the arcane room
- A hits with three scorching rays
- T finds a stair up, finding a door at the top, with another Cloud corpse, this one indicating a trap when you touch the handle
- T manages to unlock it, but must still open it
- She uses a bone necklace to open it, avoiding the trap
- it opens to reveal fog
- T walks into it
- Arrives at the place with the gnome ------- Something is still missing
- The demon catches up to A, but he Expeditious Retreats
- Frustrated the demon speaks a word of power, stunning A
- The gnome tells T that they need to fix the pattern
- She starts walking back through the fog, yet can't find the way
- S reaches T, but A calls for help, so we decide to go back (T needs to go back anyway)
- S uses Life Transfer to heal T
- T deals some dmg, but it has resistance
- S casts Magical Weapon on T's rapier (magical, +1 to dmg and atk)
- We all massively fail wis saves, and has our minds affected (Confusion)
- S freaks out when T stabs him (because of the spell), even after all of us saves
- T crits the demon twice, killing him on the last one
- We go back to the arcane room
- It is brick walls again, with no sign of the fire
- T forges a new patch (forgery kit), with the help of A's Mending
- It works
- We decide to go check if the demon was guarding something
- This was probably the goblins' base before the demon
- Not a lot of valuables
- A is the only one looting
- The room slowly fills with fog, until we're standing by the gnome again
- He agrees that we fixed it
- he is confused by T saying she wants to change the past to save her sister
- She isn't dead!!!
- In a chamber surrounded by hooded figures doing a ritual.
- She is in agony. Eyes lit, arcane magic flowing
- T offers Alvyn's bow (she hasn't uncovered it's secrets, so it's valuable to her)
- She is in the Tower of Forgiveness in Hugo-Sha
- If T finds more items of great value, she can trade it with him for more help/info. (No need to contact him)
- S leaves behind his mess kit. No words
- The gnome tells us which way to go to get back, and we return in the hallway filled with Green Eagle stuff
Plan: Get to Hugo-Sha as soon as physically possible!
(Also, S might be careful around her, so be aware of that)
Check the captain's map (it had the same symbol)
Ask Arnini wether the wizards have teleportation to Hugo-Sha
