06.09.2024 - Scribe-5 - No more secrets
General Summary
- Arthur Montagu strides into the courtroom with his squadron, and goes up to Bucket
- "Sir! What in the name of the Awarth happened?"
- Bucket gives him a brief summary, skimming over Lorladon's escape by emphasising that the emperor showed up
- He agrees to come in for a "discussion" with Montagu and Glannon about what proceeded
- Scribes harvets some enchantment materials from the dragon/centipede: 5 centipede legs (monster essense)
- The enlightened crowd from outside comes in, saying that The Voice of the Emperor told them to find someone called Scribe-5
- Coty tells Montagu about the guard that died a horrifying death in the room Coty was supposed to be in
- However, there is nothing there: No blood, no body
- The guard who died enters the room, salutes to his leader and leaves the way he went
- Coty realizes that it was a teleportation circle
- The guard suggests that we don't talk about it here. All will be explained when we talk to Glannon
- She studies the amulet
- It feels unnatural, and like there's something off about it
- Void and Sylword keeps telling the crowd that "the emperor looked raidiant, like the sun"
- Sylword tries to insist that the emperor wasn't here, but spoke through a messenger. They understand that the thing appeared, but that when it was here, it was the emperor (like Jesus is also somehow god)
- Montagu Asks us to follow him, as he and his squadron are taking the injured out of here
- As we're walking, Sylword and Scribes tries to convince Coty to not talk about the amulet during the "discussion"
- Before we get there, the enlightened ask Scribes what the emperor looked like, so she draws what it looked like from her perspective
- The crowd draws incredibly close, but somehow without pushing or violence
- The crowd uses minor illusion, to show those further back
- "The Scribe"
- A very old elf woman taps Scribes on the shoulder. "Were you perhaps a slave?", a gasp goes through the crowd. Scribe-5 doesn't answer.
- Sylword asks why she asked that, and the old lady says that it is a cornerstone piece of information, to follow the path
- Bucket hears the old lady say to another elf "Imagine, a slave of sire" (Arnini's family motto is "Forged in Fire, Slave of Sire")
- We are escorted to Glannon
- Currently, there are a lot of butterflies stuck outside the bobble, and none inside
- The guards are sent out, only Montagu and Glannon remains with us
- We are given tea. Bucket takes the cup and puts it in his drawer to drink it inside the suit
- Glannon says he will stop speaking in code if we feel ready for some revelations
- After Sylword asks, Glannon confirmes that this place is as secure as possible
- He then tells him that we may have started a new cult of The Emperor
- People kind of knows that The Emperor has been gone for about 1000 years, and that people has been impersonating him
- Sylword's goal is to avoid unneccesary bloodshed and wars
- Glannon warns Sylword that the people will seek advise and guidance from him now
- Changing the topic, Glannon presents a painting. "I think we are ready to get our guest..."
- Glannon pulls Prosecutor Dullsworth out of the painting
- He remembers someone talking to him and convincing him to take a nap in the painting
- The painting is a depiction of leering devils
- Bucket notices that Glannon seems satisfied with himself
- Glannon admits that he was expecting something to happen to Dullsworth, and chose to not tell him
- He is smug, and is expecting us to know the great amount of data we managed to gather about those interested in the trial
- To Glannon, this was just a game, a setup, a ploy for information
- He used the case to figure out who was interested enough to risk involvement, and what they care about
- He wouldn't worry too much about the innocent people. The path of restraint is reincarnating any who passed.
- Coty brings up their trauma, and Glannon says that they will be compensated for their participation
- Some of them participated willingly
- Glannon says that he assumes we still have the former Lord Lorladon, and will put him in our care
- We can ask him if we need assisstance, and they will keep him safe
- Coty stands up and leaves. "I have heard enough". Void follows
- We get the painting, since the Path of Hill is done with it
- Sylword casually gets a diamond back, as he used his on revivify
- Coty is beelining for Veilhearth, turning into a fuglekonge to get there faster, leaving Void behind
- When she gets there, she immediately goes to the Empress Ammeros Eveningstar, in the guest bedroom
- Coty tells her she just wanted to talk to somebody. She is kind of confused
- She trusts her family very much, and are pretty sure thay have good reasons for doing what they're doing. But her mind and heart are split
- "I can be the adjudicator of justice. If you, my subject, wishes"
- She thought that everyone was on the same page about the case. Or at least would speak up if they weren't
- She thinks she would have changed her mind if Scribes had talked to her about it
- Her mind and her body disagrees on whether she wants to forgive or cut their bond
- She admits that her father deserved it deep down
- The Empress asks what the law says, so Coty flies back to us to ask Sylword
- On the way to Veilhearth, Void is being trailed by the Enlightened
- One of them looks at him with extatic happiness, and gives him a ring
- As he takes it, her appearance morphs from brown-blue to a red being with horns
- There is a painful tingle from his hand to his torso
- She winks at him and disappears
- Bucket feels a ping in the direction of Void, and hurries to catch up with him
- The ring is made of gleaming white metal with a red infernal sigil
- Bucket tries to get Void to let Sylword take a look at it, but Void refuses to give it up
- Void is discussing with the air during our talk with him
- Sylword tries to confront him, but he remains spaced out
- "What do you mean deal?! She didn't say anything! .... Maybe a deal isn't that bad. Might help me finally find them"
- Coty meets up with the party and lands on Sylword's shoulder
- She asks him about the law through the voicechat
- She asks if it would be a crime not to say what you feel
- Sylword says that laws are usually very strict, and are made by people who know better than you
- Coty wants to talk to Sylword later, after she has had some time to think
- She wants to talk to him about before he met her
- Coty then flies back to The Empress, and thanks her for her good advice, now that she has understood it
- She goes back to her room and starts scribbling down on paper, then scrunching the paper and tossing it
- When we return to Veilhearth, Scribes goes up to Coty's door
- She doesn't answer when knocking.
- Scribes asks if they can talk, and Coty answers that they can in a bit
- Scribes tells her to find her when she's ready
- Void asks Bucket and Sylword for help
- He takes of the glove on his right hand, showing a mark
- When he got the ring earlier, something happened. He takes of his armor and shirt
- Tendrils from the mark has stretched out, covering most of his upper body
- It was already progressing, but it progressed really fast when he got the ring. It doesn't seem like it is progressing right now
- "I might be running out of time"
- He explains he's talking to his patron. We've met him when fighting the frost giant
- We meet at the dinner table
- Coty does not go to dinner
- Void walks to Coty's room to ask if she's coming to dinner, or if he should bring some to her room
- She will take food in her room. "I'll have to finish this"
- Sylword tries to ease the tension
- He accidentially reveals they they were the ones who pranked Scribes
- It is very awkward, since Scribes spent all night trying t oget it open
- They tell her to get them back, and she promises to read up on pranks and humor
- Bucket tries to ease the tension
- Then we turn back to the case of Void's patron
- His patron is lending Void his sword. Void sought out power to save his sister
- Sylword tells us he panicked, and couldn't bear walking around with this huge lie
- He didn't know what to do, and didn't want to talk to us about it, in case we would have stopped him
- He wants us to share important stuff, so we don't end up like Thunder or Arnini
- Bucket's favourite color is green
- Sylword asks Bucket about the "Acorns"
- He sees them as holy relics, we see it as a warforged head
- He felt the same thing when the lady appeared and gave Void a ring
- Void's patron lives in his sword, he calls himself Duskwalker
- Scribes suggest including him in our telepathic bond. Duskwalker says that we can add him if we wish
- Bucket touches Void's ring. It does not turn into a golden acorn
- The painting Dullsworth was in also has the mark, it was also on the note we found by the first "golden acorn"
- As Bucket is stashing away the golden acorn again, Sylword notices the warforged's jaw looks similar to Scribes, like it was made by the same creator
- Bucket does not feel the same instinct around Scribes
- His quest to become king hinges on who finds the three golden acorns of Rillifain. He has to find them before his two brothers. They might come find him
- Sylword, Manat and Ashes was an elite mercenary group, who saved the Clover keep. Sylword has a lot of enemies, including Rockwater
- The whole of Zedina(?), his hometown, suddenly turned on him. Including his adoptive mother. They chased he and his friend out like the plague
- Then Hugric Longbrew took him in, then suddenly threw him out
- Then he travelled with Manat to Connla's well, where a horde of dwarves suddenly chased them out to sea with The Lady
- Then Thunder used the party
- We talk a bit about Great Wizard Lady Millicent de Mowbray
- Scribes finished setting up the voicechat including Duskwalker
- He is thirsty, but only for the right blood
- He helped Void, in turn Void helps him
- "I am not whole. I must be made whole"
- Duskwalker sees the warforged head as both an acorn and a head. It is an illusion
- He wants blood to continue the conversation
- Sylword tells Void to cut him, to feed the sword. He turns his back, so he doesn't have to watch
- Void backstabs him
- We hear the sword drinking. It is very pleased and wants more. It just keeps drinking, until Scribes manages to drag Sylword off of the sword
- Sylword felt him start to take control of his body
- The sword is satisfied for now
- Scribes asks Duskwalker which is the illusion: the acorn or the head
- He tells Void that E loves him in her own way. "You are her creation(???). And she will take you. Fool! You accepted the gift. Fool! For doing what she wants. Fool! Stupid, heroic fool."
- He says that to solve it, he needs Void to give him more power and "find the missing blade"
- Sylword threathens to melt him down in the soulforge if he doesn't answer our questions
- We keep threathening to turn him into different things until he cracks "It's a fucking head. Someone's fucking with you"
- (He really didn't want to be turned into the useless rings Void keeps picking up)
- Coty is drawing and thinking through what to do. Then she starts thinking about her father, while holding the medallion. She feels her father's presence
- He doesn't seem to be able to communicate, or know that she is there
- She notices that his mind is pliable
Plan
Resummon the same raven familiar to learn what the other side of the teleportation circle looked like. Sylword can cast Locate Object on the knife that was left there. Scribes needs to read up on what pranks are, and think of one to prank Sylword and Bucket back. Since they told her to. Scribes needs to talk to Coty about what happened with Lorladon (Coty plans to talk to the rest of the party one by one first) Figure out what to do with Mamon
