04.01.2025 - Scribe-5 - Telescopes and Arson

• The battle continues
• Sylword is entranced in painting, and doesn't seem to notice the battle going on
• Void shoots out three eldritch blasts, but one of his cursed rings make it so only one of them actually do damage
• In return he is dazed by one of the painters, inflicting an agonizing self-pity on Void
• Bucket blesses the party
• Coty Frostbites one of them to death
• Scribes shocking grasps the one by her again. He doesn't seem to take as much dmg as expected, but it seems like it doesn't take much to kill them
• Void does more damage (some subtracted), but sinks deeper into the self-pity
• Bucket finishes off the initially polymorphed painter, nods at Scribes, then proceeds to murder the one on his other side as well
• He finishes by moving towards the last painter
• We suddenly hear a terrifying howl from the stairs, frightening Scribes (the only one outside Bucket's braveness aura)
• A large dog steps out of a painting by the stairs, it looks like the wolf-like creature from Coty's painting, but it exits from a different one
• It pounces on Coty, but she is able to stay standing thanks to Bucket's presence
• Scribes Toll's the Dead, making a dog whistle chime in the dog's head. She now has it's attention
• Void takes several uninterested swings at the last painter, killing it
• We suddenly hear a whistle from the top of the stairs: "come here boy, come back to master"
• The dog turns and sprints towards its owner
• As it's running, Coty spear's its back with a Ray of Frost
• It doesn't stop the dog however, as it runs into a room we can't see through
• As the fight wraps up, Sylword finishes his painting of the party enjoying a meal on the road.
• Bucket heals Coty and Void up a bit
• The battlescene with the dwarves is moving. The orks are reacting to the dwarf leaving, but they are too slow
• As the dwarf enters the tea room, De Mowbray snaps her head towards him, with a look on her face that Scribes has very bad memories of
• She is too slow, however, as the dwarf stumbles through the door
• He apprears in real life, covered in paint
• The dwarf is confused, and questions the classical music playing in the background
• Bucket greets him, and tries to calm him down
• He remembers the dwarf that were with him, but not what happened to his sister
• Bucket frames it as his sister going through a different door, so we don't know where she went
• The dwarf, Thargnak Ironroot Thorne, remembers being stuck for a long time
• Sylword uses Locate Creature on the sister, Vistrida Thorne, but is unable to find her
• Bucket tries to look for her in the paintings, but ends up smudging them with his fingers
• Coty tries to looks as well, but is frightened by the missing presence of the wolf that was chasing her
• Void tries, as he sees different versions of the paintings (he actually rolls high for once!)
• He notices that there is a burnt circular mark from the portal that Scribes painted
• When he touches it, he hears wails, despair and begging, and feels those emotions filling him, frightening him
• Bucket walks over when he notices, to save Void from the fear
• Coty comes over as well, to paint a giant magical telescope specialiced in finding this one dwarf: The dwarf-finder 3000
• She manages to resist the temptation of perfectionalism
• She peers into the telescope, seeing pristine hallways of despair
• Further in, she sees a dwarf standing on a pedestal. She looks unnarutally contorted, and is displayed as the main attraction of the room
• A voice rings out "nasty, nasty, you haven't been invited!"
• The whole painting ignites, and burns away
• Coty is frightened (Something Bucket takes as a personal offence)
• The architecture matches what she read about in the diary of the hells
• The rest of the paintings starts catching fire, but are put out by Bucket's tea cup, and Scribes' Prestidigitations
• In the painting's place is now only a description: "Professionals and enthusiasts only"
• Scribes quickly paints a mustache and glasses on the life-sized painting of E
• Coty requires some convincing to go to hell. "No, you go to hell!"
• Bucket walks over to her, calming her fear with his braveness aura
• The stairs reveal themselves as we get closer
• Scribes sees something invisible by the painting where the wolfdog was. On the floor is a 1m tall invisible stand, with thick, frayed, woven rope around it
• The sides of the painting is scratched
• Void sees the painting as a forest clearing he's been to with his sister before
• It looks like something she painted
• The stand is a cat scratcher
• We're pretty confused by why the cat scratcher is invisible
• Scratching the scrather doesn't work
• (Maybe the cat scrather was for Mamon???)
• At the top of the stairs is an intricate double door with a sign on it: Master Sabazios
• We knock on the door
• "Enter! Quickly now!"
• We enter the room
• The room looks like old money
• The intricate carpets in the middle are almost arranged in a circle
• There are 2-3 meter tall display cases containing sculptures
• Some very abstract, some almost looking alive
• Bucket recognizes some of the paintings, though he is unsure of whether they're originals or masterful copies
• A very tall gentleman stands to the left, busily painting something on the wall
• null
• "If you're going to work on your assignement, do it over there"
• He snaps his fingers and a blackboard appears: "Final exam: Prove your vision is worthy"
• He also summons parchment and supplies appear
• We hear something gnawing on a bone in the corner
• Void tries to ask him about Erin
• He dismissively tells him that he doesn't remember every student
• He gestures to the display cases, where the final exam pieces are
• The painting he is working on looks like E
• Coty immediately starts on the assignement
• Her parchment says "Present your true self"
• As she's drawing, she is overcome with visions of failure (disadvantage on next artistic check)
• She draws big eyes that look at nothing
• When she's done, the headmaster walks over and looks at it. "Why am I even bothering? Is this your best? How did you even get past the seniors"
• He said that even if he trained her for countless years, her skill would not improve

Plan

the last dwarf that we accidentially sent to Hell (Bucket's honor depends on it)  

Look for clues about Void's sister, and a way to stop his tattoo from taking over

Finish the last exam?

Sylword can cast Locate Object on the knife that was left on the other side of the Lorladon portal.  

Scribes needs to read up on what pranks are, and think of one to prank Sylword and Bucket back. Since they told her to.  

Learn the new spells: Aquired but unlearned spells  

Scribes needs to talk to Coty about what happened with Lorladon (Coty wants to assemble her voodoo dolls first)

We should turn Custodian Auren over to the Path of Hill, claiming that we held him while we investigated his crime of impersonating the Emperor
