I've decided to start a development log so I can track my worldcraft progress. I'm aiming to do something everyday, even if it's only a little.
November 2025
- Nov 5 (Wednesday) — Moving my World Anvil Events articles from Ruartei to this world.
- Nov 4 (Tuesday) — Wrote Dimensions Overview article.
- Nov 3 (Monday) — Determined how to handle my universe with multiple books. (Thanks to ECCBooks. See the sidebar for a link to his article.)
- Nov 2 (Sunday) — Reviewed and organized notes for what I need to start my revision.
September and October 2025
I spent 2 months working a simulation for my House of Livy dynasty in order to get a good sense of how that would affect the nonaLivy, which is a major dynasty family in my current WIP. Although a lot of work, I found it quite useful and have revised some of their subculture to be more consistent with the basic parameters that I determined a few years ago.
I know for most people this would be overkill, but it really has a direct impact on two major and several minor characters. And I needed a better feel for them before I start the 2nd draft.
August 2025
- Aug 20 (Wednesday) — Updated some of the data in people articles.
- Aug 19 (Tuesday) — Wrote an api script to list info about my people articles so that I can easily see what birthdates and other data needs to be fixed/added
- Aug 18 (Monday) — Wrote an api script to get info about my categories and discovered that I had left a few private and had others I'd forgotten about. Fixed a few things.
- Aug 17 (Sunday) — Early planning for how to use Chronicles for nonaLivy family. Added a few nonaLivy people.
- Aug 16 (Saturday) — Revised rest of the Worlds at a Glance article and its referenced articles. (Still need subtitles for a few worlds.)
- Aug 15 (Friday) — Revised two thirds of Worlds at a Glance article and gave atlas articles standard mouse over and excerpts. Revised/added subtitles for Metis star system worlds. Changed naming for portals and phaseball teams.
- Aug 14 (Thursday) — Revised some star system articles. (Evaluating differences between location, settlement, and landmark.)
- Aug 13 (Wednesday) — Revised my Variance (law) custom article template. Added the Historical Entries (new since March 24) into the relevant custom article templates.
- Aug 12 (Tuesday) — Reviewed various articles and fixed issues with warp paths and adjusted a few things. Mostly determined changes to make later this week.
- Aug 11 (Monday) — Completed the changes for my Conflict (military conflict) custom article template. Also revised my CSS to add borders for images in article content.
- Aug 10 (Sunday) — More work on my Conflict (military conflict) custom article template.
- Aug 9 (Saturday) — Continued consolidation of timeline notes. Started working on my Conflict (military conflict) custom article template.
- Aug 8 (Friday) — Loaded (and fixed the instructions) my star database into my new server. Continued consolidation of timeline notes.
- Aug 7 (Thursday) — Reviewed one group of old timeline notes, adding key events to list of events to consolidate and revise.
- Aug 6 (Wednesday) — Minor work on my main timeline.
- Aug 5 (Tuesday) — Decided that space stations are settlements, not locations. Converted Bia Forgehaven from location to Station (settlement). Added Station (settlement) custom article template.
- Aug 4 (Monday) — Created this Dev Log article. Added historical events relating to the FuLoza Lineage.
- Aug 3 (Sunday) — Added an Ability (condition) custom article template. Added the three types of Nay’air’eth mutants as different Abilities.
- Aug 2 (Saturday) — Added three of the FuLoza matriarchs. Added (mostly empty) Nay’air’eth Beings (species) article. Decided to use conditions for the mutant sub-species rather than separate species articles. Updated my Personage custom article template to include Sex in the Key Facts section.
- Aug 1 (Friday) — Added some events to the FuLoza Timline.
August 2025 Notes
Sex, gender, and presentation are tricky, especially in the worlds of Ruartei.
I finally decided to add Sex as a characteristic, although right now only to characters where it's important. Currently, the options are Female and Male for humans.
I will be adding Gender at some point, but that will be based on cultural expectations which, in many of Ruartei's cultures/subcultures, include personal choice. (Unfortunately, not in the ones I'm working on right now — which may give a distorted view of the worlds.)
