Viral raiders
The bacteria assault squadron, more commonly known as the virus tactic is an immortal designed aerospace assault tactic heavily inspired by old boarding techniques. A bacteria squadron will board a ship and disable its defenses from the inside out, much like illness will do to a body, hence the name "Virus tactic".
It is widely used by any immortal allied organization.
Composition
Manpower
There are not many definitive numbers on viral raiding parties, it is a known fact however that one raiding team is about 7 raiders strong and there's roughly 3 of them deployed on each active space-faring ship.
Equipment
Each raider is well equipped with heavy armor, heavy weapons and tools for sabotaging and crippling enemy ships. This may include bombs to destroy motor pools, signal busters to disrupt a command chain, bomb busters to dispose of weaponry and more.
Weaponry
Raiders are heavily involved in frontline combat. Their weapons are as heavy as it gets ranging from arc razors to smokers.
Vehicles
Raiders use teleportation anchors to board enemy ships and carry out the rest of the mission on foot from there. They do have a 'lifeline' emergency evac device to retreat quickly should the ship they're boarding be ready to jump into warp speed before they're able to disable the motor pool.
Structure
Raider squadrons have one Sargeant and this Sargeant is typically placed under the command of the captain of the ship that they're stationed on. While it is in their right to ignore some orders they are still expected to attack when the captain of their respective vessel commands it.
Tactics
Their nicknames usually reference diseases, something that is reflective of their one and only tactic. A viral raiding party will board a ship through a teleportation anchor and then proceed to disable all defenses, much like a virus would do to a human body. Their goal is to leave enemy ships stranded and defenseless, to the mercy of the ship they originally wanted to attack. When taking on large warships their tactic remains largely the same except they will also be accompanied by non-raider units. In such an event it is their job to apply their same tactics to soften defenses and make incursions easier for their allies while crippling any effort of a counter attack.
Training
Raider units get an insane amount of training on top of their basic combat training. They are promoted from a regular soldier after receiving a certain amount of testimonies of valor. They undergo a form of maintenance training monthly to keep them sharp.
Logistics
Logistical Support
Viral raiders, when they're not moving on foot use teleportation. Their way into an enemy ship is through teleportation and their way out of it is through emergency teleportation. When they're not deployed in space they will be transported in APCs.
Auxilia
Raider Sergeants are fully authorized to call in any kind of support from other divisions.
Upkeep
Funding for raiders typically comes directly from the top of the food chain as they are considered a vital form of defense.
Recruitment
A soldier may only become a Viral raider after receiving at least 3 testimonies of valor and having the full support of a respective officer.
History
The viral raiders continue to write history to this day, fending off statonian raiding parties, pirates, and more.
