Jeslorian Holy Artefacts
Not to be confused with legendary weapons, the artefacts of Jeslore are incredibly powerful one of a kind weapons with often divine power. Though these are typically wielded by the champions of an empire, some have fallen in less than benign hands.
Current Wielder: Vayelyth Sunshard
Type: Jewelry
The sunshard is a legendary artefact historically used by the sunshard family to conduct purification rituals, these can take anywhere from 3 seconds to days of full agony. Purification is a painful process, and the length of it depends on how truly evil the target is. It was created by Illinea herself who has tasked the sun elven royal family to protect it with their life. It has remained safe with the royal family, who have made the name of their artefact their own last name.
Current Wielder: Vayelyth Sunshard
Type: Sword
A holy elven artefact, the origins of which lie somewhere with Kragen before his rise to godhood. It is thought the old elven king forged this sword himself, and his conviction led to the sword's powerful magical property. Life's limit handles like an ordinary sword (albeit one of masterful craftsmanship) but when an opponent is killed using it, all knowledge and skill is transferred. When this sword is used with a bit of stealth skill, even an untrained peasant can become a highly skilled warrior, and the greatest warriors can become better and better in a very easy way. The disadvantage of Life's Limit is that the sword is a creation of Kragen's ambition, anyone wielding it too often, that doesn't have the mental fortitude to resist the subtle corrupting power of it, will possibly become quite a bit like him.
Current Wielder: Gildas Sunshard
Type: Bow
A legendary bow forged in the deep past by some of the first wood elves, back when it was part of general elven culture to forge increasingly more powerful and arcane weaponry. Branchrunner was one of these weapons, a bow that could not kill, instead causing paralysis. The more severe an injury would have been, the longer the paralysis is active. Sylvia used it for her whole life, allowing her to spare and arrest people while still maintaining the ability to keep her distance in combat. The bow's magical properties have been inverted over the years, as part of a failed preservation experiment forcing Sylvia to use a technological bow upon her return. Gildas uses Branchrunner still, as its increased power and ability to pierce targets as well as being able to ricochet off walls.
Current Wielder: Glitch
Type: Sword
A sword that was once thought to not exist and simply be part of Bloodspike folklore, that is until a shogun found a lead and sent an army to claim it in his name. This warlord was ruthless, and millions feared him. In the army he sent, one soldier was named Blaze Crimson, a hoodlum from Hayota who joined out of financial desperation. Out of the 150 men sent to claim the sword, Blaze was the only survivor. Not wanting to give the evil shogun this legendary sword, Blaze kept it for himself and gave the warlord a fake copy. When this was found out, Blaze fled Hayota and stayed in hiding, using the assassins sent after him as practice. When he had mastered it, Blaze faced the shogun, and challenged him to a duel. Whoever won, would earn the right to keep the sword. Blaze won, and while his victory earned him the sword, it also earned the people living in fear from the warlord freedom from his tyrannical rule. Blaze passed the sword down to his daughter, who reforged it to better suit her needs. The Katana Gladius' effects are not consistent. For Blaze, it was a fire effect, which allowed him to amp up the damage of projectiles he reflected and also prevented healing by cauterizing injuries he made. For Glitch, she got the same fire effect, with an electric cyber effect allowing her to electrocute enemies in addition to cauterizing wounds and also affecting machines. Vaye used it a few times, and when she did the effect was poisonous on people she intended to kill, while pressing the blade against an ally healed them.
Current Wielder: Currently unclaimed and on display in the Bylyn historical museum (formerly Tower Charlot)
Type: Greatsword
Perhaps the most famous artefact of them all, if not tied with the Katana Gladius. Tideturner is known for a flashy effect, which causes high voltage electricity to course through the weapon. The higher the rage of the user is, the stronger the effect is. At low rage levels, the sword can simply cause paralysis among organic enemies, whereas when the user is enraged it may cause the electrical discharge to be so strong that it flings enemies over significant distances and into walls. Regardless of the rage level, Tideturner is powerful in its ability to nulify blocking and parrying, as any weapon not purely made out of rubber will conduct the electricity and deal electric damage. When facing off against tideturner, enemies are typically forced to dodge strikes or run away.
Current Wielder: Spectre the Reaper
Type: Sword
A sword from sun elven legend, formerly known as the provider. When Spectre was corrupted by the empire, her sword was corrupted alongside her, going from the provider to souldrain. Who came up with this name, but Spectre claims that she would have named it something far less generic. Whatever the case may be, Souldrain does what its name says it does, when an opponent (or in Spectre's case, civilian) is killed with it, be it by using Souldrain as a means of casting magic or by directly killing them, the soul will be harvested even if contracts had been made with Zartor. In addition to automatically harvesting souls, Souldrain also has a curse effect. Getting hit by it directly will make a target permanently more vulnerable to the user, and will allow the user to track the target.
Current Wielder: Sai Mihaly
Type: Sword
A small rapier made by what's thought to be an ancient chiropa civilization before they were scorched into obscurity by the first empire. Swiftstrike is a powerful weapon with a vampiric effect, the more blood it can absorb by causing injuries, the better its range becomes and the lighter it feels to swing, making it incredibly fast. If over 500 mililiters of blood are absorbed within a 48 hour span, Swiftstrike will gain the ability to ignore armour and grants the user a speedboost, as well as immunity to the sun for chiropa.
Current Wielder: Currently unclaimed and displayed in the Bylyn historical museum (formerly Klaut Rosefield)
Type: Break open rifle
An ancient dwarven weapon, that was used by the old dwarven king on his hunting journeys. This was essentially one of the first guns ever made, but it was never mass produced like with the guns the seraph and iron union made at the time, so the actual invention of guns or at least their widespread adoption was still attributed to the Iron Union underground, and the Seraph Warden Confederacy above ground. The thundercane has become something of a status symbol, being used as a cane by currently ruling dwarven preisdents, although through some trickery Klaut was allowed to not only keep it but also improve it. The magical properties of thundercane are an elimination of recoil through magical means, and any buckshot that gets loaded in while fire twice as much hail as was originally in the cartridge.
Current Wielder: Verena Larsvor
Type: Warhammer
One of the holy artefacts the giants brought with them from Ragnarock when their high king and 11 jarls had fallen to the dragons and it was not immediately clear who would be slaying the dragons. It remained on display in the longhouse of the jarl of Chenter until someone worthy - Viktor was found. The hammer's effect is that when it does not consider someone worthy, it becomes incredibly difficult to lift and swing, while having an impact equivalent to a plastic sword. But if it does consider the user worthy, it is light and easy to use, but hits with mass 9 times of what should be possible, easily capable of knocking dragons out of the sky and knocking back vehicles with an otherwise modest swing. It is not known when or how Gram will consider a person worthy.
Current Wielder: Kat Kheylana
Type: Sniper Rifle
Effectively the first bolt action rifle, the sea's eye is a hand and a half rifle invented by Natascha Valentinovich, Kat's mother. Who gave the weapon its powerful enchantment though, is not clear but it is thought to be a Grordz schematic Natascha must have stolen. A powerful weapon capable of removing heads from miles away, the real strength of the sea's eye is the elimination of sway even on moving platforms, allowing the user perfect accuracy.
Current Wielder: Kat Kheylana
Type: Sword
A legendary desert elven sword that was used to kill the lich king that had enslaved all of desert elven kind. The property of the megalodon, is that injuries made by it will not heal as they turn into pure gold. The only way to heal an injury made by the megalodon is by removing the golden injury through surgery and fixing the even larger wound. When an opponent is defeated, their corpse will turn into a solid golden statue, with softer fleshy bits such as eyes, organs, and blood becoming gemstones of matching colours. The megalodon also has increased mass in spite of no additional weight, essentially letting it hit hard despite weighing little.
Current Wielder: Unclaimed
Type: Jewelry
The watch is an ancient artefact created by a genie for her master. After she wasn't wished free, and her master carelessly phrased his last wish, all the artefacts were stripped away from him and hidden across the crystal desert. Among these artefacts, the watch was the most powerful, capable of stopping time for everyone but the user. Its location is not currently known, but skilled bounty hunters have never stopped looking.
Current Wielder: Empress Ascenda Aveniscii
Type: Staff
The Duskbreaker is thought to be the staff used by Kragen himself during his war spree. It is believed that when he forged his sword and staff, all his conviction and hatred were poured into the weapons, and it was his mastery over magic and his undying ambition that saw him join the empire. While Life's Limit remained with the original elves he ruled, on the sunset isles, while his staff was taken by those who remained loyal to him and would eventually become the dusk elves. The overwhelming corruption turned the sun elves that were loyal to Kragen into the dusk elves that run the empire today. Duskbreaker itself, aside from having an overwhelmingly powerful corruption effect on anyone that's not a dusk elves in a 50 meter radius, all spells cast using duskbreakers have a secondary corruption effect. Each blast has a chance to turn the target into a believer of the god of war.
Current Wielder: Echo Whiskey
Type: Handgun
The equalizer is quite possible one of the first guns made, back when the union didn't exist yet. It was blessed by one of the elder gods to give it the ability to level an entire town. When charged up, the gun releases a massive glaive that becomes wider the further it travels, cutting through everything. The disadvantage is that instead of relying on magic or ammunition, the glaive relies on life force, meaning that overuse can kill the user.
Current Wielder: Revna Magnusson
Type: Spear
Originally wielded by the original atheneum who flew to the highest mountain of Jeslore to ask the gods for a weapon, to help him prove that the elders are Jeslore's true rulers. The gods obliged, and bestowed upon him the ancient order, a spear that can magically extend indefinitely to stab threats to the crown from a distance, while throwing it while materialize it in the user's hand after piercing its target. When spun, the ancient order creates a round barrier that will reflect incoming attacks both ranged and melee, and hitting an opponent with the flat side will knock an enemy back.
Current Wielder: Currently unclaimed and on display in the Bylyn historical museum (formerly Tower Charlot)
Type: Shield
The shield originally used by Tower. It was unique back in his hayday for its ability to project a large barrier out of its side to protect allies with a one way shield, allowing his allies to return fire while enemies can't attack the user or their allies. It is mostly superfluous now as this is a common feature with modern energy shields. That said, the shield is still extremely valuable, due to it having been used by the hero who saved not just DECTA, but all of Jeslore by stopping Zartor.
Current Wielder: Tanii Tenderfoot
Type: Accessory
The vanity mirror is an ancient RAR artefact stolen by Tanii, Jeslore's greatest thief. It allows the user to shapeshift into anything they like by simply looking into it and thinking of the desired shape.
