Nethilite
Describe a rare organic material and what it's used for in your world.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Someone who has never seen such material would think the person describing it to them is under the influence of one to many pints or had one to a few many shrooms, but the purple to black, sharp to view but perfectly smooth to touch and seemingly scorch to stand near but cold to touch is a material that one would confuse anyone until they get chance to see and hold such a mineral but even being able to do so past small samples that a king or high lord may have as a cherry to their treasure store.
History & Usage
History
Historically Nethilite was used as decoration as it was thought to hold no power nor other use, up until the first forge found that it could be activated and modelled kin to clay when hit with a hammer that has been blessed upon by any priest of the eldest gods.
After this discovery, it was found that while it did not hold an edge nor be as durable or strong as other used materials, it was Particulier powerful when the user of the weapon was being driven by not the needs and goals of oneself, but by the tenants and will of a god.
Everyday use
A common use of this material in recent ages is by those of religious sects and cults of sufficient power to obtain and command a forge or machine that can produce this weaponry.
Refinement
Whisper passed down by legend and the gods chosen few are that it is possible to refine this material into a component that resembles and acts akin to ambrosia.
but that is of course only what is passed down from whispers.

I like that crystal. Would add to my collection :D I'm curious though - with such confusing effect upon seeing it how did the first to discover it dare to touch it? Or they didn't?
The first to discover it most likely thought something was wrong with them but after confering with others on the material likely came to the conculsion that the material could be sold to those who are looking for something odd or something dectractive.
The discovery of its signifcant power in regards to being used to further the will of the gods was simply by chance but the discovery itself in religous circles is a significant one as the material does not attach itself to any creed or siding so any religius sect could use it as long as the purpose was to further the will of their god or gods who they worship.
