Canbora

Canbora is the jewel of the west, a large port city and main central hub for trade, politics, housing, and everything in between.   The docks are met by a large unpaved road with merchant shops and a city 'welcome center' of sorts. The merchants are mainly traders of overseas goods, such as fish, exotic clothing, materials, and the like. This welcome center is a large, 3-story embassy that welcomes newcomers from overseas, processing their arrival and documenting their presence. Currency exchange, diplomatic offices, and even housing for nobility or politicians can be available here. There is a small library inside on the first floor that mainly contains maps and local history of Canbora, but the occasional novel or scroll can be found amidst the shelves.   Beyond the embassy and the seaside street, many businesses crawl up from the bay towards the center of the city-state, grasping the attention of weary travelers. Plenty of taverns, shoppes, merchant carts, grocers, and more trying to sell anything to anyone. The sand and dirt roads transform into cobbled stone about 2 blocks from the shore, still layered with a fine dust from the ocean.   At the base of the central peninsula, there is a palace-like castle that serves as the noble court section of the city. Fifteen solid, round towers dwarf everything below them and are connected by strengthened, thick walls made of grey stone. Refined windows are scattered here and there around the walls in seemingly perfect symmetry, along with same-sized holes for archers and artillery. A great gate with hefty wooden doors and large crenellations guards the front entrance to the castle build into the city-state, the rear entrance is mainly for travelers coming from across the continent, but these are not the only way in when you know the castle's secret passages. Statues of heroes and the previous kings line the central walkway to the castle entrance, serving as reminders of the past. Well kept gardens with fragrant flowers, gorgeous trees and many bushes decorate the plaza inside the walls. This castle has stood the test of time and despite knowing some very rough times, the castle still stands and it looks like it will do so for many years to come. Various large houses are scattered outside the castle gates, the rich seem comfortable with living outside the gates, given the privileges and station they bear. This castle has clearly been around for at least five hundred years, but it doesn't seem like it will collapse any time soon.
