Lizardpeople
Evolved in Jungle environments, primarily terrestrial. Originating as chasing carnivores, they have keen senses and high mobility.
Humanoids approx 2 yards tall and weighing 100 kg. (SM 0) Covered in scales, except for palms of the hands and areas of neck and face. Elongated nose and jaws, sharp teeth.
Internal skeleton, 4 limbs - 2 legs and 2 arms, manipulators with normal DX.
Skin has scales DR 2.
Oxygen breathing; most swim well.
Cold-blooded by nature, but due to the size, their bodies can store enough heat to function properly in brief periods of cold.
Extended lifespan 1, with maturity around 30 years of age, and aging effects starting at age 100, and accelerating at ages 150 and 185.
Reproduction: live-bearing, trending towards K-strategy. The egg develops inside of a female body, and is laid short time before birth, so essentially live-bearing.
Individuals may shift between genders because of environmental, social, or internal stimuli. It is more common to reproduce sexually, but asexual reproduction is also possible. Individuals rarely have conscious control over these changes in their bodies. Children are born asexual, but assume genders as they mature. One-two offspring are born per litter, parents provide extensive care after birth.
Predatory ancestry gave them very good vision to track and zoom onto prey. Hearing is superior to humans', and they can even detect low frequency vibrations. In addition, lizard people have very sensitive facial and hand membranes which gives them precise sense of touch. They can smell and track prey, and even communicate via the pheromones. Finally, they have heat detection sense which only works for something hotter than a lizard person trying to detect it.

Hearing is the primary means of communication, but there is an additional layer of pheromones communication as secondary channel.
Chasing carnivore heritage also influences social behavior. The bestial ancestors used to gather in small packs, lending to tribal structure.
Since people can change gender throughout life, it biologically instills gender equality. The packs range from 6 to 14 individuals, and have a hierarchy (alphas, betas, etc), share food and cooperate in child care. More complex and fluid arrangements are common, with partners shifting between the sexes and levels of hierarchy. There are also selected, typically strong, solitary individuals who form only temporary pair bonds.
Average species IQ = 11.
Mental traits
In interaction with other races, Lizard people tend to view themselves as betters, and carry themselves with pride. They are quite attentive and curious. They prefer to work alone, and value personal merit and responsibility. Often are quite single-minded and unfazed.
Apart from the prevalent cultural pattern, there are so called solitary lizard people, or solos. In addition to being physically stronger and healthier, they seem to be more tolerant of other races, but at the same time more egoistical. They are formidable, serious, and even more dependable on individual performance, while irritable of groups.
