Guild of Messengers

Created in 206 in Tonvera, the network of physical and magical communications improved the information flows in the country.   The guild locations and messengers are protected by companion creatures - Nyxiths. These nocturnal creatures have the ability to relieve exhaustion, use strong camouflage to blend with surroundings. Creatures are also targets for scientists, medics, and mages for their supernatural properties. Extract of the creature can restore, prolong and enhance beauty.   The Nyxiths thrive in environments where they are not constantly hunted or disturbed. By allying with the Guild of Messengers, they secure places where they can rest and breed without fear. In return, the guild benefits from the Nyxiths' abilities to relieve exhaustion and protect their members. Empatic bond is formed between the Nyxith and the messenger of a high enough rank. The bond strengthens and becomes more telepatic over time, ensuring mutual loyalty.   While the Guild of Messengers officially protects the Nyxiths, there are rogue elements within the guild who exploit them for personal gain. These individuals capture and sell Nyxiths on the black market, leading to a shadowy underworld trade in Nyxith extracts and parts.   The guild's goal is to uphold their duty carrying information and connecting people. The guild wants to create near-real-time message board mirrors, but new magical and organizational methods have to be developed. The time of duty-bound adventurers riding in the night with a trusty Nixyth on their shoulders is in the past. For now, the cost of enchantment is too dear, and not everyone is going to accept and trust the Guild as the source of truth.
