Arcane Theocracy Valthurian Order
An authoritarian state formed from a colony of humans who arrived via gate spell and established a colony on Ixar.
Valthur was probably a leader of the expedition during the original colonial mission. The capital city of Aurumarch was established at the point of arrivial which located in a magical hotspot zone - which could be the reason why the gate spell homed in on this location in the first place. The magical properties of the area allowed for more powerful and efficient spells - an invaluable asset at the early stages of the colony life.
For unknown reasons the archmage and de-facto leader of the settlement decided to close the portal and cut the colony off from the homeworld three decades after the planetfall. The reasons could be political, but it is hard to imagine that a barely sustainable colony would benefit form independence. The reasons could be more practical, such as a thaumathurgical incident, or simply lack of resources to sustain the gate.
From the early days of the Order, research and knowledge accumulation were its guiding principles. This led to the increased prestige of mages who were the driving force behind the former colony, but not the majority of the people. With time, magical establishment's needs were completely divorced from the needs of the general population. After a period of tension, a large part of population leaving Aurumarch and forming another colony across the sea.
The culture of labor and survival developed in the young nation. Valthurians discovered that a large part of the area under their control is conducive to the magic of healing, plant working, elemental fire, and mind control. Focus on healing and vitality of nation became a cultural trait, leading to magically increased lifespan and fertility.
When the Order was nearly two centuries old, restrictive social measures were put in place as response to social unrest and decline of magocracy. The second wave of mass migration to the second colony takes place. In the Valthurian Order, however, the authoritarianism was cemented and transformed into a state religion.
Theocratical doctrines of the Valthurian Order are as follows:
