Vukith Institution
Vukith Institution, a chilling monument to human ingenuity and cruelty, stands as a testament to the depths of darkness that can reside within the hearts of men and elves. Known by various names, including "Blackfrost" and "The Lair of the Nightmare Wolf," this subterranean prison is a place of suffering and despair, a frozen hell carved into the very heart of Cold Wail Island.
The brainchild of an unlikely alliance between the human Kingdom of Owenar and the elvish Kingdom of Thaznir, Vukith Institution was designed to house the most dangerous criminals. Its construction, a monumental undertaking, involved excavating a vast network of ruins and chambers deep beneath the island's icy surface. The prison is maintained by the Silver Key Division (S.K.D.), a specialized force of military officers and scientists led by the enigmatic Tibalt Triferus. Under Triferus's iron-fisted rule, the S.K.D. has conducted a series of disturbing experiments on the most inhumane inmates, using them as guinea pigs in their pursuit of knowledge.
Those unfortunate enough to be sentenced to Vukith Institution are branded with fiery runes that grant them resistance to the extreme cold within the prison's depths. However, this protection is limited to the confines of the facility. Should a prisoner attempt to escape, they would be exposed to the unforgiving elements of the Iceveil, their very life force sapped by the biting wind and freezing temperatures.
As one descends deeper into the prison, the horrors become increasingly profound. The lower levels house the most dangerous and depraved criminals, creatures whose very existence is a threat to all who cross their path. Some rumors suggest that there are parts of the prison so isolated and dark that no one ever sees the light of day again.
At the heart of Vukith Institution lies Vukith's Labyrinth, a maze of twisting corridors and deadly traps. This ancient dungeon, created by the Vukith himself, is the only other means of escape from the prison. However, few who have dared to venture into the Labyrinth have ever returned, their minds irrevocably shattered by the horrors they encountered within.
To protect the integrity of the prison and the safety of its inhabitants, the S.K.D. has sealed the entrance to Vukith's Labyrinth, limiting access to only the most desperate and foolhardy. The prison remains a place of eternal torment, a chilling reminder of the consequences of evil and the lengths to which humanity will go to contain it.
The area is kept secret by those involved, and the records of its existence lie only in royal records or the head records of the Carcerem Librorum.

Title: Princess Melody Owenar's Final Journal Entry (225 ADA)
... I had been given a full report of the former Queen's initiative in this Vukith Institution project before I transferred my authority to the new King. The two Kingdoms decided in the same year of its discovery that it would be suitable for harboring the worst criminals. Not the kind that steals or kills and is detained by the law. There are those in this world who possess strength too great for an average knight can subdue. The prison's extraordinary design makes it capable of containing the powerful. Under the control of the Kingdom's special unit known as the Silver Key Division, it jails the most dangerous individuals convicted by the Kingdoms of Owenar and Thaznir. Public knowledge of its location is a closely guarded secret and very rarely does it let go of its prisoners. Some may argue it's the one place where none can escape alive...

Title: Inmate Journal of Hiruden Jarlvon (Date Unknown)
...I fear this place more than any man living. Yesterday, I was sent to a night at the lower floors for nearly killing one of those SKD guys. That bastard put eyeballs in my soup, but they kept telling me it was pearl onions. I've torn the eyes of many cowards who looked at me funny, and I know an eyeball when I see one. Nothing feels safe about the deeper jails. The guards have to light the way with arcane candles and even then one can only see a short distance in the endless darkness. The sound of water drips everywhere while the screams can be heard in between each drip. Even with this mark on me, the cold crawls on me like a hoard of ants biting at my skin. That night, I remember when I first heard the stomps of something big walking past my room. Its echoing paws fill me deeper with uncertainty. Even though I was separated from it by this damnable metal, It felt as if it was seeing right through me. I hugged the back wall in fear clinging to what I could. Then suddenly, I saw its eyes. Its eyes went through the walls and it was staring right at me. I don't know if I want to call them eyes because they look so unnatural. Like staring into a twisted hole that can stare back at you. For a brief moment, our gazes met and a moment later, I saw more of them.... I remember each eye that I took away. That thing wanted me to see what I'd done... and all of them stared at me in judgment. Their whispers said the same thing... coward... coward... coward... I wanted them gone so I started crushing them... but they just kept on coming... coward... coward... coward. They just kept on staring. Even when I closed my eyes I could see them all in the back of my eyelids.... coward... coward... coward. I couldn't stop screaming. My hands were covered in the blood and flesh of those damn eyes, but they just wouldn't go away. Even now, the eyes get closer... and closer... and closer. My lord Thaznir... why have you forsaken my dreams for this nightmare?... I beg of you... PLEASE... SAVE ME FROM THIS CURSE!

... According to what has been recovered by its records, the ruins were once the secret laboratory of the most notorious dream weaver of the 2nd Dark Age. His name was Vukith Nelbon....the stain of the Elvish family name. His obsession with creating the first true living dream led him to the forbidden art of nightmare weaving and the experiments of so many innocent people. This Institution of his was where he housed his failed experiments before his Nightmare Wolf supposedly ate him. It was later discovered by a band of scouts from the Silver Fang Tribe who went on a traditional nomadic journey into the frozen ocean of Iceveil... ...In order for it to be used, the Owenarians hired the Pale Stone Guild to reconstruct the missing sections with a mixture of steel and stone. Title: SKD Prison Mapping Report (186 ADA)
... Only one entrance exists. The massive ruined structure is mapped like a network of tunnels shaping a sphere. The vast majority of the structure is of Arctech with ice flooding much of it from its compromised structure. Concluding from the expeditions of Domhan Rhunda, the architecture is of ancient design. The center of the spherical structure lies the tunnelway into the labyrinth system deep below. The Arctech of the entire structure is powered by an unknown power source located somewhere within the labyrinth. Most of the northern hemisphere is housing with a secured lock system, a court space that can be used as a canteen, an interior testing ground, and a large complex suitable for staffing. In the southern hemisphere of the structure, the housing is heavily fortified with open spaces for testing. Its impenetrable security makes it the perfect place to contain formidable inmates. ...Arctech is a difficult material to use as it refuses to be reconfigured for any purpose outside its design. Channeling arcane forces, the substance can emit an ominous light that allows for easier traversal, but some parts of the structure fail to light. This is especially apparent in the deeper regions where no light can be naturally captured...

Title: SKD Prison Security Report (207 ADA)
... Being an underground facility, it makes infiltration impracticable. The ice surrounding the prison is too dense to be dug into by normal means, and it is too cold for an organized effort to sustain itself. Our security at the entrance is stationed both inside and outside the ice cave with minimal fortifications by the Silver Fang Tribe. The interior security consists of over 200 soldiers trained under the SKD. The majority of which roam the northern hemisphere of the facility. Those assigned to the southern hemisphere are chosen for their exceptional skill in combat. However, as a means of defense, no weapons are permitted in person when working closely with inmates. To avoid dying from the cold, the Kingdom of Thaznir developed a special rune tattoo that generates heat throughout the body so long as the residents stay within its borders. In the event of a riot or breakout, the SKD will initiate a lockdown protocol sealing all tunnelways with Arctech seals. The head of the SKD holds the authority over Arctech's sealing. Our knowledge of this technology is severely limited as we can only initiate commands from the interfaces in the walls. One useful feature we have found is its ability to trace the signatures of those who reside in it and can let us track their movements through spellcasting. Even more useful is the means to alter certain structures, but such feats require the work of multiple arcane users...

Title: The Mystery of Vukith's Magnum Opus (477 A.D.A.)
...According to what has been recovered by its records, the ruins were once the secret laboratory of one the most notorious dream weavers of the 2nd Dark Age. His name was Vukith Nelbon....the stain of the Elvish family name. His obsession with creating the first true living dream led him to the forbidden art of nightmare weaving... and the experiments of so many innocent people. This Institution of his was where he housed his failed experiments before his Nightmare Wolf supposedly ate him. It was later discovered by a band of scouts from the Silver Fang Tribe who went on a traditional nomadic journey into the frozen ocean of Iceveil. 2 months later, an expedition of adventurers, calling themselves the Silver Key, journeyed into the caved ruins. Over 40 of them took the journey, and only 9 returned. They were reported to be in a state of mental exhaustion or battle fatigue. What horrors they saw in those depths are best left for our forbidden records. The Kingdom of Owenar was swift in occupying the area and setting up a special division in the same year it was discovered. Naming themselves after the adventurers that lost their lives, the Silver Key Division, or SKD, they researched the ruins and concluded that it was originally testing grounds before the Dark Ages. What was the first-brood testing? Regardless, a special treaty had been made with Queen Melain Owenar and the Kingdom of Thaznir over the facility. To harbor the criminals that no regular soldier can control. In 185 A.D.A., the SKD discovered an entrance deep in the center core. A tunnel way that led downwards passed the mapped ruins. Within it lies a massive labyrinth of ice and steel. Likely created by Vukith himself. Many brave souls entered that place and only one came back saying that he saw a massive wolf with eyes that terrified him to madness. The records suggests that the wolf guards the way out towards the northern continent. The uncharted land of the First Brood. In the current state of things, the SKD is led by the former Fuxenarian family of House Triferus, their expertise in Arctech and passion for research made them the ideal choice. It must be said that I still find their methods unethical as they punish their most dangerous inmates by experimenting on them...
