Ghedgnanese Famine

The Ghedgnanese Famine is occurring on the western continent, affecting the Protectorate of Ghostkep, continental Ny'thelyn, and the Council of Kasvil. The famine as a whole has changed the lives of nearly 562,000 people in total. Most of those affected remain in the rural communities where the food is cultivated. The hardest hit of this famine would be those in continental Ny'thelynn, with nearly 15,500 urban residents without a constant source of food. Those in Ghostkep are also deeply impacted by the famine. However, the urban areas that fall within the famine zone are on bodies of water, and thus have more access to fresh fish and other foods. The famine zone in the Council of Kasvil has an immensely smaller affected population than Ny'thelynn and Ghostkep,

Manifestation

This famine has manifested itself as widespread crop failure either due to extreme weather - heat, rainstorms, flooding, etc. - or by the after effects of overharvesting the surrounding environment.

Localization

While this famine is widespread, it affects those further inland heavier than those near bodies of water. Those along the (placehodler) river, the lakes, and the coast have a marginally easier time to procure food for themselves and their families. This is accomplished by either paying for imports - though at a price hike - or by utilising the aquatic wildlife for food. Unfortunately, the transport of fish or imports is further expensive for those in rural areas, without much income to compensate for the price hike.   The reaction of the public in each of these nations within the famine zone is vastly different depending on cultural emphasis on community. The Khairi peoples of Ny'thelynn and Kasvil have a strong emphasis on sharing resources. The cultural ideas of communty for the Adirianse people isnt as important, thus the peoples in that zone is more focused on providing for oneself and family before extending toward others.
