Letters Regarding Wendyl

A Letter to Headmaster Jarrow

Iharal, 42nd day of Airean, 94 Human Era

Headmaster Jarrow,   A report has been received from our outpost in the Faded Wetlands. Rumors of spontaneous combustion have spread from a village called Leeside. Based on several sources, inanimate objects as well as small animals and some cattle in the village have combusted. There have been no accusations of sorcery at this time. I am, however, disatching Master Kyara and her Seekers to investigate the village. Any further correspondence on this matter shall be with her.   Walk in the light of Tudros,   Seeker Belezac

A Letter to Headmaster Jarrow

Betial, 49th day of Airean, 94 Human Era

Headmaster Jarrow,   It's been a long time, old friend. I hope you've been well. As much as I would like to catch up, this letter is not a personal one. My team and I have arrived in Leeside. Its a quaint, small village. Reminds me of home. In the time since we were first dispatched by Belezac, the combustions seem to have gotten worse. In addition to several of the smaller buildings and the animals that were previously reported, two villagers have died. One was an older woman, the other a child of perhaps 10 years. These deaths bear the scent of sorcery. I believe Wendyl, the youngest son of the the villagers who were kind enough to offer me housing, is the source of these fires. This has not, at this time, been confirmed. Unlike many other cases, the villagers here seem to be trying to protect him. I confess that I've grown so used to people wanting to be rid of sorcerers in their towns that I am unsure of how to approach this situation. Once we have confirmation, I'll send another messenger hawk.   Until Ixtar's eternal embrace,   Master Kyara

A Letter to Master Kyara

Adumil, 53rd day of Airean, 94 Human Era

Kyara,   It has been far too long since I last saw you. The situation sounds a bit difficult for you. Do not tarry too long or the consequences could be dire. Remember, even if they do not want Wendyl to be taken from the village, it is for his safety and the safety of everyone around him. I know you're not comfortable with it, but you must take him by force if necessary. As Headmaster, I must remind you to confirm that he is a sorcerer promptly and remove the danger.   I'd love to spend some time with you when you deliver the sorcerer to Eastreach. I miss you.   I hope to see you soon,   Jarrow

A Letter to Headmaster Jarrow

Betial, 14th day of Firean, 94 Human Era

Jarrow,   It is not good news I send. I waited too long, I fear, trying to gain the boy's trust. Last night, Wendyl lost control of his magic as he overheard myself and his mother discussing his future. His mother has passed into the Underworld, as have two of my men. I allowed my own emotions to cloud my judgment, believing that if he were given time, he would be comfortable enough to leave his home without incident. Instead he leaves in tragedy, and it is entirely my fault. We are leaving Leeside today. Barring any further incidents, we should arrive at the academy in Eastreach in ten days.   I cannot do this anymore, Jarrow. I will be tendering my resignation to you personally upon our arrival.   Kyara
