Lightstone
Small, circular, hand-sized pebbles, imbued with Celestial energy. When squeezed, the item sheds dim light in a small radius until deactivated. The amount of time the artifact can shed light depends on the skill of the magician who created the object.
The items were originally created to protect the tomes of The Dwarven Archive from the imminent dangers of fire, but its practical nature and ease of use led it to be adopted by other institutions and many rich households.
