The Itharia
The Itharia are a secret organization concerned with planar incursions. Formed out of the realization that the plane was woefully unprepared for threats from outside its existence and naively believed such threats were not already present.
Structure
The leader is selected from amongst the senior members of the Itharia. The leader remains the leader until death or a vote of non-confidence. The leader decides if any new members will be added to senior members, but once a member is dubbed a senior member they can not be removed from this status. Aside from dubbed senior members, most things act in the simplicity of seniority but only senior dubbed members can give official orders.
Public Agenda
The Itharia is a secret organization with the self appointed responsibility to protect the plane of Ithica from extra-planar incursion. Their highest priority is defense but they also investigate legends and rumors to better understand the plane and incursions of the past. The Itharia charge their members with important tasks like collecting relics, texts, and the elimination of threats.

History
The Itharia was formed 145 years ago by a group or adventurers after they stumbled upon a gate to another plane deep in a cavern in the Dragon Maw Mountains. This gate seemed to be being used by Orcs and half orcs to perform raids in the mountain range, but the gate itself seemed much older and Draconic in origin. The party slew the orcs and destroyed the portal but all became very aware of the nature of the threat and how no one would have known about it if they had not accidentally stumbled upon it. The party began recruiting and researching and eventually founded the Itharia.
