The Chronicles of Theren

General Summary

Theren having received the instructions from Vecna teleported to The Murder Mansion  and after a brief   The party arrived in the city of Inturo, just north of the Missini River. The party visited the Blue Scarf, a local tavern, normally visited by soldiers. There the party met an Orc and High Elf. Andraste challenged them to cards and began fleecing them. Mariella, disguised as a similar to herself but human, started to persuade information out of the orc while Theren, also disguised as a human, distracted the High Elf. The orc told Mariella about all sorts of the things, haste/slow archways, the vaults enchanted lower levels, the nature of the teleportation circle, the lack of plumbing, and the presence of Cedric Testface and a wood elf from the Testface institute. Dusk learnt about the arrival of nondescript, non treasure, non taxes carts. other then that there wasn't much change at the barkeep noticed. The orc, Grip, and the High-Elf left remembering the party, minus Mariella. The party left to discuss in the woods their plan of approach and Theren and Andraste butt heads again over class and what they knew about the world.   As night fell they snuck into the keep, Dusk and Andraste assassinating five guards rather swiftly, as the descended into the keep and found their way to a small room, presumably on the barracks level.   The party, on the barracks level, swiftly eliminated the patrolling guards between them and the small prison. There they freed three individuals fluent in thieves cant who created a distraction.   The party killed one more patroling guard before rushing to the vault entrance. Quietly unlocking the door, Andraste spotted two more guards and over heard a conversation between someone with the fort(Commander Grafsun ) and a "Mr. Testface". The conversation revealed a young man from the Testface Institute had made something or somethings that were guarding the vault excluding the need of placing greedy humanoid in there.   The party waited till the two left and then swiftly killed to the two remaining guards. The party hid the bodies in the final locked room and dusk set a trap, laying poison on the door handle and caltrops behind the door.   Andraste opened the vault door but the party immediately found themselves confronted by a clockwork guard. One which after a brief start of combat, Mariella charmed into helping them. The party focusing on finding the book opened the next vault door and after some poor attempt to shift it, managed to roll it out of the way. On the other side they discovered another construct but between the use of stealth and some magic the party passed without issue. On the next floor the party doged the patrols well unitl mariealla was trapped out in the open between two separate patrols. The party swiftly defeated the two construct, hid their remains and dove back into hiding narrowly avoiding being spotted by yet another construct. They descended another flight of stairs to the third level. the stair behind them obscured by some sort of illusion, there but not there.   the party took the right path passing through a passage and being magically marked by the archway.  Andraste spotted another construct and attempted to kill it with one stealthy blow but failed. the aprt y attack quickly but it appeared the clock work guard was more self aware and rather then fruitlessly fighting clapped their hands together, alert other nearby guards of their presence. the party managed to eliminate one  more four armed guar and three caster type guards, before they started searching for the copy of Bolo's journal and journeys volume 1. they found it and some other strange look item that were so mundane in appearance they must be important. after discussing with dusk they decide to risk descending further and  seeing if they could steal from the most valuable section of the vault.   the decended stair into darknes where they lost there sense of how long they walked but they emerged from the darkness into anm intersection of halls. at teh center of which wer two huge crystals, one hangin from the ceiling and one from the floor. around the florr chrystal were more caster type guards seemingly dormant. Andrast herad foot steps bhind a near by door and  they decid to ambush the guard, they destroyed it. they proceeded down the hall around and out into the different hall of the intersection though some of the party failed to understand and falt sure they were back where they started. another guard appeaered and like on the floor before realized its imbending death and clapped, but this time their was no response. thefount that faceing thcrystal at the middle of the intersection were more doors,  the party started to investigate.  theren touched the  crystal and found a strange connection to it. they could sens something all around them some of theings moving, some station ary and was confident they were the contructs. the party moved into one of the room adn found stragne magical glowing cages. onable to determine how to pick the "locks" the party used one of the trasures they found on the previous floors,  openins as many cages as they could thye found, a parasol, a goblet, as pair of gloves, a robe, when the poarty tried to leave the room with one of the treasure the caster cam eto life and attacked, soon after a larger  construct descened from behind an illsuion in the ceiling crystal.  The fight was hard as additionl four armed clock work guard arrived.  but the ne theren called out for someone to help, and strangely the clock work guards moved to assist. someth they had formed a conecction to the construct throught the crystal.    A young wood elf emerged and was a pit perterbed about hereir destruction of his construct but didn't seem to much care that they were clearly stealing from the vault. The wood elf introduced himself as Egin Testface. it was clear he had no love for Krata or the fort an just wanted to work on his craft th epartey tried to cast a spell on him only to have it countered, although egin seemed unaware. a small rune gloed iunder his eye for just a moment. IT appeared egin was a rune child, wether he kmnew or not was unkown. Egin was swayed to come with them and meet Ogden. Theren had no spell slot to teleport but Egin offered to cast the spell if they drew the circle. As he did the illlusions of darkenss fell revealing many more intersections spread out around them. Th elarge construct ripped free a piece of the crystal and the party egin and the ramiaing constructs emerged. theren had made the circle for the murder mansion and there they start teh translation of the relevenat pages of the  book.   I stopped in Gens Hollow for the night and met with King Anberdon. It was an uproarious evening on this, the eve of his daughters marriage. Lord Varse of Dark Mound was even in attendance. It was rare to see him outside his castle let alone so far north. I dared not pass up the opportunity to speak with him. We stayed up late into the night. We covered all manor of topics; his desire for stories was as voracious as ever. We discussed at length the rising tensions in the region and how he was dealing with push of giants into his territory. He had, of course, brought a wedding gift as his attendance was intentional, while mine was coincidental. He brought the heiress a set of five goblets, one in each of the chromatic colours, each with a different magical enchantment. He had also come to retrieve a blade he commissioned Destanna for. He was excited to see the result, as it was first time she had use blood like his as a component. He was especially relishing in his refusal to let her use her signature blackheart iron. Ever obsessed with standing out I suppose. As I was not invited, it would be rude to overstay my welcome. I rose early and with sun at my back continued my trek to the Valley of Flood. Tamit passed in the following days. It brought me sorrow that my research was fruitless in those final days. Hopefully xir would fair better. 10 days after having left gens hollow faced with no easier path I started a much harder climb. I found myself lost in the rhythm the cold air filling my lungs. It was refreshing though I suspect those more poorly trained then I would consider this a death sentence. I am not sure how many days I climbed but I assure I climbed much higher then necessary. So high in fact I found myself on a peak so high I could see dragons fly unhindered by clouds. The glint of gold amongst the peaks reminded me I was under the ever watchful gaze of an old friend tucked away with his books. In the coming days I descended and in the distance I could see it, the valley, where my next journey would begin. While others might say it would of been faster to cross the Wild Mothers Menagerie, I am not a dragon and I can not simply fly above. The many days I have taken would not be as treacherous as one night spent there and it is of the utmost importance I arrive in the valley as unscathed as possible. As I descended into the valley, my feet strangely finding purchase on what appeared to be smooth, crystal clear ice, even I, a relatively peaceful man could feel it, the heartbeat of violence, the desire for blood. My excavation of the titan steps needs to start quickly if I hope to emerge half the man I am now.   the party worked back from here and started to gather an idea of the path Bolo traveled and where might this gold peak be that seemed there best shot at  finding the library above the clouds. they decide their best guess was the valley of blood was Snowbright and that meant the  mountains to the east were where they should head, Theren remembered the telescope in the murder mansion was focused on a strange mountain and found it again and set that as their goal. the party also discovered Bit'tun owned a copy ov Bolo's Journals and Journey Volume I as its where he got the names for his armors. Dusk departed and andraste Theren, Mariella, and Allison  headed into the mountains they found there way to hte peak discover a carved sone staircase winding th etop fre of snow or ice. it led to a cave with a strange silver staircase. they climbed the stair case and found a library and within it a giant ancient gold dragon. the dragon, Maranath, took on a human form, a dark brown skinned middle aged man with black afro. He prodded theren on who had sent them and what they were doing there. eventually learning it was tholly and that theren was gifted their magic by Tenarra and had met with Draconom he decided to let them stay. the party had a quick tea with maranth who was very interested in who they were and what they'd done. they all went to rest in chambers in his beautiful stone mansion. Theren awoke in the library, Mariella, Andraste, and allison awoke in the murder mansion, confused and without memeory of discovering the library above the clouds or maranth, they just knew Theren wa there and safe. mysteriuosly Bittun's copy of bolo's journal and journey had gone missing as well.
