Chronicles of the Realm Walkers: Session 48

General Summary

In the aftermath of the incident with Abigail the Realm Walkers took the following hours and next few days to themselves.   Rhy   After everyone left, Rhy, dressed in her tonna took on the appearance of a Drow and went down to the lake and threw away Tholly's sending stone. She sat down and reached out to Sasnia. Impassioned she asked "What did she have to do to become Spearadear's chosen?" Sasnia replied by asking her why she wanted to be Spearadear chosen. Rhy let out her frustrations over not wanting to be walked over, whether it be Chosen or an Ancient Dragon. Sasnia encouraged Rhy to try standing up to one of these threats. Sasnia suggested starting with clearing their list: Eragis, Master Minta, and without any previous mention, King Slooman. Rhy was confused and Sasnia made clear their intent to give her this order as King Slooman and his family were responsible for all the pain Rhy and other like her had experienced by their insistence on maintaining the status quo.   The next day Rhy rose early before the others and went to The Black Eye and started brawling physically and magically with anyone she could.   Rhy brawled with anyone who would fight her for two days and each night went home with a fighter. On the third day around noon she heard a commotion at the bar. Sitting at the bar, angry crying, calling the bartender stupid, surround by empty tankards, was Abagail. She was blubbering to herself "...the King of the Dragons rules from the mist away from the sea, what does that mean?"   Rhy approached the bar and eventually approached Abigail and offered her assistance. After a drunken burying of the hatchet Rhy asked why the King of the Dragons was so important to Abigail. Abigail explained that the King of the Dragons is unique and there's nothing like him anywhere else. He changes the fundamental rules of Dragons, on a plane without Gods no less. She also wanted to take that knowledge back to where she he came from, "so he will be proud of me". After mentioning it Abigail denied anything of the sort.   Rhy tried to help. Her thoughts went to other dimensional spaces like where Rasephar sent the Realm Walkers and Tholly's crew or the red mist in Aulen Grove. While she couldn't think of any obvious meaning to the statement, mist could easily be interchangeable with fog. Abigail believed the king has a name and that its known but its use is avoided. Rhy tried to help without saying his name. She suggested Abigail broaden her scope. She eventually produced a copy of Bolo Journal and Journeys V.I and began reading. Rhy returned to fighting.   Rhy finished another fight and approached Abigail again. Abigail expressed her frustration over the the Titan calendar and the lack of records to use as cross-reference so she had no scale. Rhy continued to try to nudge her in the right direction, prompting curiosity and suspicion from Abigail. "Why do I feel like you're leading me to a treasure you already found?".   Abigail revealed she had rocky interactions with Celestials of Ioun, specifically smiting a Planetar that had come around at some point. Rhy warned her about potentially losing her power like Ohpa did. Abigail was confident Rhy new the king's name but upon being told, Rhy was helping as much as she could, she seemed to have some sort of revelation. Rhy lastly suggested she get some tea.   Lee   Lee spent his evenings at the festival partaking in slug and merriment. During the first day he read through/skimmed the five books from the book store. Four of the books were of little use. But one of the texts was called 'The Umbercall'. The text was unclear if it was fiction or historical or otherwise but was interesting none the less. It was written in poetic form but it describes an event or occurrence in the The Underdark. There was a theme of trio's or sets of three in the text. Lee best assertion was that the Umbercall had something to to do with the blurring of the lines between the living and the dead.   While he enjoyed the evenings festival celebrations Lee noticed a few individuals in similar garb that he seemed to be noticing more regularly then others amongst the crowds.   Lee on the morning of the third day sent to Desmond, with hopes of discussing the firesin the Great Library of Kemmera. Desmond agreed to meet Lee outside the library around noon. Lee confirmed Desmond was up to date and agreed the Chosen of Vecna was the most likely culprit for what had happened to the library. Desmond believed the ghosts were driven by a subconscious duty, that they had possibly met the Chosen of Vecna during the fires and reacted from instinct. Desmond suggested Maranath might be a better source of information when it came to understanding the nature of Chosen, but that it also wasn't Maranath's area of focus or expertise. Desmond also explained that the abilities of Chosen varied wildly. Lee wondered if another Chosen might be able to perform the divine magic that had been used on the librarians. Ioun and Mystra were potential candidates. Even Bahamut or Erathis could potentially affect memory in their domains if the memories were a threat to justice or civilization.   Desmond warned that unless Theren was much closer to Tenara then he and his brothers and sisters believed that The King of the Dragons would not tell them he couldn't have the fork and that it would be easier for everyone if Lee just retrieved the fork for him. He also suggested that Rhy might be able to solve his problem. He even assured Lee that his goals aligned with Spearadear's tenets.   Lee very sneakily managed to manipulate the conversation as they discussed Yua to ask if what Yua did happened before whatever happened to the Titans. Desmond assured Lee that what happened to the Titans happened before the "curse" on who ever it was Desmond cared about. Desmond eventually explained that what happened to the Titans is what happened to the person he cared about, Yua. He continued to reiterate that he didn't want to to hurt the party but he would get what he wanted.   In a last attempt to pull information from him, Lee asked if the library was his hoard, Desmond's responce, "I don't have time for a hoard". Lee mentioned finding this drive attractive which led to a very extreme change as Desmond made clear he could be distracted by other things and the two returned to Desmond's Underdark home where they faded to black.   On the third evening Lee returned to the festival and once again saw the same three individuals who he was now confident were keeping tabs on him. Lee decided to do away with whatever game they were playing and approached the woman. Lee sort of confronted her but she continued to behave as if nothing was up. The two began to drink and she asked about the book store. Eventually Lee cut through the charade. The woman made clear they were looking for artifacts or treasure. Lee tried to assure her he had no idea what they were looking for and he didn't remember taking anything like what she alluded too. They eventually agreed to put whatever this was off till tomorrow, Lee agreeing to meet the strangers at The Black Eye the next day. There was a strange confusion whether or not it was going to be a fight or a conversation. The woman made clear they needed the contents of the sarcophagus and that if they left the city it would be much more complicated. Before leaving seemingly into the ethereal plane, the woman told Lee that they'd been judging him and that she thought he had potential.   Ranrus   Ranrus started working of attempts to reverse engineer the devices, vehicles, and constructs on Eberron. His biggest stumbling block so far was the transfer of power. He had found plenty of power sources, not necessarily of the correct scale, but there were power sources on Ithica. The Gold Worms may hold some potential depending on how exactly power could be transferred with heat, heat seemingly being its power source and the transfer of heat via lava. He also considered the differences between magical and mechanical functionality. While there are magical elements via power source and endpoint (ie gravity manipulating crystals) the transfer of power and control could be mechanical, or without enchantment.   When he was taking time away from his study he investigated the city looking to help the down trodden and those in need. While many of the needs of the unhoused are met there is a gap medically. The Chapel of Lolth doesn't seem to be applying its magical capacity to help the sick. Ranrus set up temporary medical aid and provided food and water to the various soup kitchens around the city. He cast many lesser restoration to help reduce the effects of many long term injuries and disabilities amongst the community. In his time he met an elderly Drow woman, who everyone refered to as Greta. Greta's age showed even for an elf. She was clearly a community organizer and leader and Ranrus suspected a former member of the Chapel of Lolth. Ranrus left a large sum of money in her possesion to aid int he community.   Theren   Theren took three days to themselves a read the tomb of the body. They also tried to reach out to Maranath but as they were used to the spell did not find its target.   Each of the Realm walkers returned to their beds in Tideguard Castle on the third night.   On the morning of the 22nd. Rhy woke up early pushing a note under lee's door telling him her current routine of going to the Black Eye. A note that Lee heard as it scraped against the floor.   Date: Evening of the 18th through the morning of the 22nd of Sithala, 1437 DC   27 days to left in Caleroh's ultimatum.
