Chronicles of the Realm Walkers: Session 19

General Summary

The Realm Walkers headed to the home of Het Fairmoss, the Fairmos Estate. After a brief interaction with the doorman that ended with him being scolded, the party was led inside by Brynn Fairmoss. The party had their magical weapons held in the entrance way, aside from the Paradox Blade, which they were not inclined to part with. Brynn carried it for Lee and the party found this acceptable. Brynn led the party to the basement that descended deeper and deeper underground until they reached a large magically darkened chamber. The party approached four pillars, each covered in poetry (written in Undercommon) and what appeared to be some elements of enchanting standing around a magic circle on the floor. it appeared to be a permanent zone of truth.   Het and two robed figures stood on the other side. Het asked the party to step into the circle.   After some debate over why she wanted more then just Ranrus and Rhy to enter and the prevention of Ranrus identifying the circle (one of the robed figures revealed that one could mask or disguise spells by performing the requirements for one spell while instead casting another), Lee took the initiative and stepped into the circle, followed soon after by Ranrus and Rhy. Each allowed the effects of the circle to take. Het entered a moment later. Theren tried to enter but couldn't, seeing for a moment the sheen of a dome covering the circle.   Het questioned the three about their loyalties, relationships, the attack on Dark Mound, and what they knew about Visser. Het asked if any of them had been turned by Lord Varse and she revealed she had been turned. Het asked the party if they had ulterior motives for entering her home and Ranrus was able to tell a truth, that he sought passage into the Underdark to find the Werefolk. This hid the parties other ulterior motive of learning the contents of and/or retrieving the ledgers recording the coming and going of the throughway.   As her line of questioning seemed to be coming to an end, Het activated a secret element of the circle to try and force them to answer a question, "What makes you most vulnerable?" The party all resisted, but the twins "answered". Rhy claimed her powers were completely suppressed by sunlight and Lee talked about blades and arteries, he guessed.   During the questioning Theren was stuck outside unable to hear anything but they could tell the two robed figures, one of whom was writing things down in response to the happenings inside, must of been able to hear. Theren distracted the one writing, prompting the other to start writing as well. Theren also explored the chamber followed by Brynn who showed no signs of stopping them.   After Het finished questioning the trio she and Ranrus negotiated. Het was please by the parties answers about the Queen and had shown a particularly positive reaction when Rhy mentioned concern over Mavrin controlling the Queen. Het assured Rhy that as long as Mavrin was not present he had no sway over the Queen. Het requested that Ranrus, as a Chosen, swear to provide aid when capable should Queen Telanna's rule be disputed in future. Ranrus offered to meet the Queen, but couldn't make that promise without knowing the woman in some capacity. Het gave Ranrus one way permission to use the throughway, making clear he would not be allowed to use it to come back without having sworn his loyalty to the Queen. Het revealed there was already a Chosen, Arlon Dawn, Chosen of Pelor, who had sworn loyalty to the Queen, similar to what she requested of Ranrus. After the agreement was made one of the robed figures produced a thinner taller book and began writing something in it. Lee snuck up and gave it a quick glance. He saw a list of names of which Ranrus's name was being added to. Each name seemed to have notes written next to it.   With no other pressing matters the party were led, by Brynn, out of the basement. They collected their weapons and headed to the Darkmound Through Way, hidden in the basement of a ruined two story building in the area controlled by the Fairmoss Family. The chamber with the entrance was heavily guarded and a massive stone door slid away revealing natural tunnel diving deep under ground.   The party descended.   Date: 1st of Sithala, 1437 DC
