Chronicles of the Realm Walkers: Session 12
General Summary
The party woke the next morning leaving Yenter and Saransina. Their centaur guide was no where to be found so they headed south, avoiding a few encounters and moving quietly through The Wilds. When they finally found open air they headed south east until they hit the main road. The party went by/through many towns and villages finding signs of the Fire Giant destruction, even two years after the raids.
The party arrived in Dark Mound on the 29th of Disiga. The party made their way to the Dragon Scale Ale House and gave Elanor's coin to the owner Smelm, a rather tall Dwarf. He was resistant to receiving the coin, pointing out Elanor could be aggressive and usually meant trouble. He suggested the party stay and asked to make sure they didn't die before Elanor arrived as that usually left her in a very bad mood. In case they died, Lee left a letter with a minor outline of what they knew, alluding to the reappearance of the Devendraw, Kynta, and Oddi making moves. The party then headed to Castle Varse to see Lord Varse about their reward.
After a brief interaction with the Half-Orc and Human guards at the entrance the party made their way in. The doors open to the entry hall. Searching the hall, the party examined the portraits with new suspicions brought on by Yenter. Lee noticed the age of the painting themselves was quite old, and though the frames had been updated there was clearly a major age difference between those at the front of the hall and Lord Varse's closest to the ball room. There was also clear familial look but not so close as to be Lord Varse in disguise. Theren checked the rooms in the hall and found a fine white jacket that they stole/wore. They proceeded to the ballroom where they met with Lord Varse. Lee, Rhy, and Theren received their rewards for dealing with Ambrose. Each receive their ear cuffs, and he offered to give them each something else and was open to suggestions. Theren requested any cards from Yua's deck he might have, he said he would deliver one to them later. Rhy asked for a tuning fork, tuned to another plane and a story to go with it. Lee was undecided.
Lord Varse had a table and chair assemble and sat down with the party for an impromptu dinner. Lord Varse was fascinated with the parties interaction with various ancient dragons ,acknowledging his suspicions that Theren was connected to Tenara, and Theren's relationship with Gods and death. He promised to visit Yenter if he could. The party told, via writing, Lord Varse the name of the King of the Dragons. He told the party about Mavrin and Bolo, confirming Bolo was indeed dead, though he had lived a very long time. He was very interested in the Cover B J&J: V.III. They told Lord Varse about Oddi and Visser and he wasn't terribly concerned. He was aware of Devendraw as his general but was a bit surprised at the mention of Kynta. Noting Kynta had no affiliation with Oddi in life, but he was more interested in the mention of the throne, which Lord Varse claimed as his property. Lord Varse had had it stolen from him several hundred years ago and it seem to have come into Kynta's possession at some point. He wanted to know who hired Rhy and Lee to go there. He was upset hearing Oka was still the head of the guild and that she wouldn't accept perfectly fair offers for information. Rhy messaged her to ask if they could acquire information of the client, giving her details on Oddi. Oka seemed receptive but did not seem clear on the use of sending spell. He left the party at the table to make their way out at their leisure. Lee remembering something, quickly followed to give him the package from Danny.
After dinner the party headed to the craftsmen row which Lord Varse had described as something like a school, like they have in Ironhead. Upon arrival they found every shop bore a symbol of Onatar and the whole row felt of a divine presence. Ranrus and Rhy exchanged their concern over this.
Inside The Deadman’s Forge, despite the late hour there were still smiths working and forges were still hot. A familiar face to Ranrus came speeding out of the back frustrated, but quickly elated up on seeing Ranrus, Loxif Boondiggles. Loxif was excited to inform Ranrus they had completed the fusion of mithril and adamantine, the fusion of "strength and tenacity", and Loxif requested Ranrus assist him in gathering more materials to help him forge a holy weapon called the "Peace Maker". A weapon spoken similarly to the way Loxif described it even on Eberon. Rhy remembered reading of the the weapon foretold of by the "gods" as being a marriage between the values of Bahamut and Moradin. Ranrus was excited, but worried that with the creation of the alloy that Visser might want it and may have already collected what he needed to forge the weapon. Loxif was insistent the weapon brought peace and therefore could not be use to harm anyone. The party began wax philosophical and explain how peace could be interpreted different ways, breaking Loxif in the process. Blacktooth gave Ranrus his commissioned hammer, which he had name the "Hammer of the Forge Saint", an took Loxif home mentioning, if Visser was pretending to worship Onatar, he'd likely just get smited for coming to the row.
