Mindy was adopted at age four by Francesco and Ginerva Abadelli. She suffered from ptsd and amnesia as a young child and does not remember any details of her life before being adopted. She grew up in Estuce with her adoptive parents, grandmother, and maternal aunt. Her family owns a small restaurant in Estuce and Mindy grew up helping out there. She was an exceptional student from day one, and her thirst for knowledge is what led her to becoming a scholar/academic.

She adopted Fettuccine Alfredo in her teens when he was just a baby, and she considers him to be her best friend. He now accompanies her on her travels and has a title as an honorary scholar for his help with Mindy's studies.

-Mindy has deep-rooted trauma in the nature of her adoption. She was found wandering the woods at the age of four by Francesco and Ginerva and after investigation was determined to be an orphan or abandoned child. Mindy suffered from ptsd and amnesia and was nonverbal for the first few years of her life with the Abadelli's. She has been in therapy since her adoption to process and work through her trauma. At this time she has a complicated view of her biological parents, as she is curious about where she came from but also resents them as she believes that she was abandoned. She considers her adoptive parents to be her only parents/her real parents.

-Mindy has always struggled with making friends and being the odd one out in social circles. For this reason, she usually prefers animals to people and finds them easier to talk to (when she's talking about herself and her own life)

-Growing up in a human household, Mindy has some level of disconnect with her dragon-kin culture. She wishes to learn more about her heritage and to meet/befriend other dragon-kin.

-Mindy believes strongly in the goodness of people. She thinks that everyone has goodness in them. She also believes strongly in redemption and that people deserve second chances

-Mindy believes that kindness is one of the most important things in life/the most important thing you can be. She always strives to be kind (especially to strangers)

-Mindy believes that people can change, and sometimes they just need a little extra nudge (for example, Mindy is the kind of person who would talk to a homophobic person and try to gently reframe their thinking or at least give them some other things to think about)

A few months ago, Mindy’s father, Francesco, was diagnosed with a seemingly incurable illness and the doctors are unsure of how much time he has left. When she hears of the possibility of an object that has the power to cure all ailments (or at least grant wishes) of the one possessing it, she can’t resist joining the search. Although it’s highly implausible that such a thing is real, Mindy is not ready to accept the finality of her father’s fate, and so she chases the implausible in hope of finding a cure for her father. 

Savvies: cooking, solving puzzles, listening to and helping others, reading/writing, comprehending academic articles and texts

Ineptitudes: understanding sarcasm and jokes, putting her own needs first sometimes, theatre/acting, lying

Likes: books, Fettuccine Alfredo, cooking (and sharing her food with others), playing the harp, singing, flowers, trinkets, green and pink

Dislikes: rude people, cauliflower, roses, strong lights/smells, when someone raises their voice at her

-Mindy is incredibly compassionate and goes to great lengths to help and support others, including complete strangers. She has a keen attention to other people's body language and emotions and can sometimes pick up on someone being upset before they are even aware of it themself. She enjoys cheering people up and doing random acts of kindness

-Mindy is a quick thinker with a knack for solving puzzles, and her stubbornness makes it so that she refuses to give up until a problem is solved

-Mindy's biggest flaw is being a people pleaser. She pretty much always puts other people's needs above her own, even at her own detriment.

-She does not enjoy conflict and will try to avoid standing up for herself at any cost

-Due to her optimism and "glass half full" attitude, she sometimes (unintentionally) falls into toxic positivity despite her good intentions

-Mindy can be quite naive. She believes in the goodness of people and in redemption, and for these reasons she often blindly puts her trust in strangers. Additionally, she has the potential to fall victim to abusive situations as she would continually forgive her abuser

-Mindy loves collecting trinkets and honestly just collecting things in general

Paternal Grandmother:

Mindy is very close with her parents, (maternal) aunt, and (paternal) grandmother. She grew up living in a home with her parents and grandmother, and having her aunt often stay over when she was in Estuce. Before her grandmother passed away, Mindy was incredibly close with her, sharing a special bond with her as they both shared the name Melinda (Mindy was named after her). Her aunt travels and is a little bit chaotic/flighty, but Mindy finds her very fun and enjoys her visits. Both of Mindy's parents are very soft, loving, and supportive. Mindy has a great relationship with both of them.

Overall, Mindy is very close with her family and her family is the most important thing to her.

-Mindy is admittedly not the best in social situations. She's good at sensing others emotions and reading their body language, but she is not so great at understanding social cues. She also struggles particularly with sarcasm and understanding jokes. Growing up without many friends, she doesn't have much experience talking with people her age and finds it easier to talk with people who are older than her.

Despite all of this, she is an extrovert and does enjoy getting to spend with people and have conversations with them when she is able to. She just doesn't always understand what's going on.

Mindy grew up in what would be considered middle class by our standards. Her family was not particularly wealthy by any means, but they were far from in poverty. Her parents being pretty well off meant that Mindy was financially supported during her primary and secondary schooling and encouraged to involve herself in extracurriculars.
