Tyrel Fellfang

A Moral Contradiction

Some rules are left unspoken; carts and travelers keep to the right, illicit activities are not spoken of in polite company, and if you are a lost Dragonkin in the city of Stronghold, there is a place for you. These are the rules that keep society going, but no one ever truly speaks them aloud, and no one ever truly learns them purposefully. Over time, these are just something that one does, learned through years of doing, not through any teaching. Every Dragonkin that comes to Stronghold eventually learns these rules too and ends up on the doorstep of a man who plays in the worlds of dark and light.   While the man of the manor appears to have questionable morals, his name is tied to a cartel with a history of illicit deeds, he is also one of character. The business that was once a front for his organization has become one of great repute. It is hard to see both parts of the man and realize it makes a whole, which is why so many only see the bright side of what he is doing. A manor to match the lords of Stronghold has bustling grounds and full rooms, children and young adults with no homes or families finding their place in the halls of the Red Dragonkin.   Tyrel Fellfang is a contradiction, one that no one truly wants to delve into. While the leader of the Red Smoke runs one of the largest cartels in the criminal underbelly of Stronghold, on the legal side, he is a trader of goods. To add to the contradiction, the manor he owns is also an orphanage, home to wayward Dragonkin and others that have no other place to go. While a great number of these may end up in his employ, as part of his criminal family, those that do not are no less his children. When the streets of Stronghold are littered with those that have been thrown away and forgotten, the Red Dragonkin picks them up and takes them home.

Personal history

Tyrel Fellfang was unknown until he appeared in Stronghold and purchased a large manor during Catherine Nightbreeze's rise to power. During that time, the city was shaken up as the new Empress made changes and ousted those who had added to the corruption that had plagued the Human Empire before and during her father's reign. Early on, as Fellfang settled into the city, he opened his home to a handful of young Dragonkin who wandered the streets, often those who were forced to leave their homeland and become beggars somewhere until they were able to build a life of their own.   Over time, the manor came to house as many as twenty orphans at a time, but other movements on the grounds surrounding the manor drew the attention of others. It seemed that Fellfang was setting up a business that would import a variety of goods from around the world that would then be sold in the courtyard of the manor, often by the young ones who lived there. While somewhat questionable, this business brought a good deal of traffic to the manor and set Fellfang up as a prosperous local businessman.   The Red Smoke appeared in Stronghold soon after, and although rumors flew that the organization was attached to Fellfang, it was difficult to prove. Many of the cartel members were seen at the manor, either meeting with Fellfang or moving goods, but there still was not enough proof to take down the organization and its supposed leader. Others heard Fellfang talk about his "extended" family, but many assumed it was the orphans he had taken in as his own.
