Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels

Transportation of Animals in Luxury

As the waves rock the ship slowly along, the sounds of animals can be heard from below deck, the neighing and braying of horses and donkeys, the odd sounds of more exotic animals. The crew continues their duties, keeping the deck clean, organizing the goods below deck, even feeding and walking those creatures that have gotten their sea legs. It was a never-ending cycle while they were on the seas, cleaning, feeding, caring for the creatures that had been given into their care for the duration of their trip. In many instances, the creatures that traveled on these ships would be better cared for than the people who took the same trip.   Much like Hospitality Class Light Cruisers, Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels are tasked with a noble profession, providing care to those animals that are traveling the seas as part of diplomatic missions. These vessels specialize in the movement of luxury cargo, but this cargo is living and is often precious animals from faraway lands. Animals on Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels travel in the height of luxury, cared for and provided for as if they were the most important of diplomats or emissaries. Younger still than Hospitality Class Light Cruisers, these cargo vessels are another step in creating the most useful and luxurious fleets in the world.   Fire & Gold, Inc. was the first to find a need for such vessels, much as they had the Hospitality Class Light Cruisers. These cargo vessels were meant to be used in tandem with the light cruisers, moving living cargo that could not be easily handled on other ships. Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels were designed to house any traveling animals like royalty, making sure that nothing could go wrong on the numerous days at sea.

Propulsion

Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels are built similarly to Hospitality Class Light Cruisers with some modifications below deck. These cargo vessels are considered brigs and utilize two masts carrying square sails. On the seas of Isekai, these sails allow the ships to move quickly with heavy loads of cargo while also being easily maneuvered in sail-restricted spaces, as well as the small harbors that are found along the coasts in places like the Little Greenwood. For a vast majority of the time, these vessels are propelled strictly by their sails and the movements of the sea, but a secondary propulsion system does exist in the rare instances when the sails and waves are not enough.   Depending on what type of creatures the cargo vessels may be moving, Mages that specialize in elemental magic may be employed to serve as a ship’s secondary propulsion system. In the rare instance the ship is unable to propel itself through its own means, the spellcaster can create means of propulsion using a variety of spells that will allow the ship to move for short periods, even when loaded to maximum capacity. In most cases, this is unnecessary as the crews are highly trained to keep the ships ever-moving when needed.

Weapons & Armament

Security of Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels is paramount due to the goods and creatures they may carry. As these ships often follow Hospitality Class Light Cruisers, they are involved in diplomatic actions in areas that are held by races other than those currently involved in their deals. Because of this, all crew members aboard Hospitality Class Light Cruisers are trained to handle dangerous or difficult situations while the ship is enchanted with a variety of enchantments to ensure the least amount of issues arise.   In many instances, the crew is handpicked by the cargo vessel’s Captain or by the captain of the Hospitality Class Light Cruiser the cargo vessel is traveling with. Male and female crew members are trained in a variety of combat styles, including hand-to-hand, a variety of weapon styles, and magical combat. This training varies from vessel to vessel, but the basis behind it is similar. Other specially trained members may be placed on board a ship, depending on what cargo is on board.   When not traveling with Hospitality Class Light Cruisers, the cargo vessels are given an escort of two small sloops that are outfitted strictly to provide protection for the cargo vessel. These sloops are small and fast, able to complete maneuvers that would otherwise cause harm to the creatures on board if the cargo vessels had to complete them. The crews of these sloops go through a similar training and selection process so that everyone is of a similar mindset.

FG Royal Stable

The FG Royal Stable was the first Hospitality Class Cargo Vessel built by Fire & Gold, Inc. in order to transport the various animals that their diplomatic dealings caused. A pet project of Oz, the company’s founder, the FG Royal Stable was meant to be paired with the FG Hospitality to create an experience at sea that no other country, kingdom, or organization could offer. Although a number of Hospitality Class Light Cruisers were built, only a small handful of the cargo vessels were built as outfitting the below decks with padded stables, water and food receptacles, as well as the proper storage to hold food, water, and addition cargo did not prove to be financially prudent, although the idea itself was lucrative.

All Hospitality Class Cargo Vessels bear this emblem somewhere on the ship to denote it as a diplomatic vessel. While these ships are often heavily armed for protection, these ships fall under the provisions of the Hospitality Agreement, which allows them safe passage through waters that are held by those who signed the agreement.

I like that they have ships especially for live cargo and that they don't just put the animals on regular boats.
