Starlight Mead

Starlight Mead is a legendary drink that is said to be able to awaken new magical elements in the person who consumes it. No one knows how one can create the mead, but it is something that people would kill to obtain because in a world where the stronger magical abilities one has the more one is respected in society. There are rumours that the ingredients could include a unicorn horn and blood from a fae (both which are considered to be extinct).

The legend stems back from the ancient era when it was thought that the first hero, who was born to a common farm village had consumed the drink and it had awakened five elements (air, earth, fire, water and light) which allowed him to gain the strength to defeat the demon king and save the world. It is said that the mead was blessed by the gods and that gave the hero more pure powers than even the most blessed noble or royal.

It is wide-spread as every village, even one that is far away from the cities, know of the hero. The legend of the Starlight mead is even more believed amongst the commoners who believe that if they could awaken to magical powers then they would be able to rise in status and have a better life. Even in the modern times, there are some adventurers that search for any sign of how to create even one drop of starlight mead.

In higher noble families the legend has changed to be that it will increase one's magical talent, as it is a disgrace to think that a lowly commoner would be able to obtain a blessing from the gods just by having one sip.
