Mana Overload
Causes
The cause of mana overdrive is consuming food that is rich in mana, these include food that is found deep within dungeons.
Symptoms
- Hi fever and sweating
- Chest pains and heart palpatations
- Uncontrollable bursts of mana
- Unable to control magic and skills
- Mana core explosion
Treatment
Once symptoms of mana overload are seen, the infected needs to be isolated. This isolation is not to prevent from contagion, but to protect bystanders from getting caught up in a mana core explosion if the infected person becomes too volatile.
Once the infected has been isolated, then they must be treated by someone with the capabilities of white magice with the skill of mana transfer to transfer the excess mana to a monster gem.
To fully treat one person, multiple mana transfers might be necessary which makes the cost of treatment only available to nobles or those who have financial means.
Prognosis
For light cases, the mana flare ups will only be light and will settle down on their own without any need for concern or expensive treatments. For more severe cases, unless one comes from a wealth noble household, the prognosis is severe. If one cannot afford the high price for the treatment and monster gem, then it is a death sentence which may become a national disaster if the infected has a powerful mana core and it explodes.
Sequela
There may be some symptoms that last after one has been cured from mana overload, these include a mana fever that can last weeks to months after the excess mana has been transferred to the monster gem. One might also experience pain to their mana core and not able to utilise strong magic or skills without an external mana device due to damage to the mana core.
Prevention
This condition is entirely preventable. It is advised not to eat any food that is growing in the dungeons as they contain pure mana which most bodies cannot contain.
