Personal history
Fauna was born into the wood elf tribe of Sola during the final stretches of the War of the Eastern Front. To keep her and her sister Freya safe from the constant danger, their parents ensured they never left the tribe’s village of Sola and kept under constant supervision while death and destruction loomed just past the Arcane Woods where the two were hidden. A close bond formed between the sisters, wandering and playing in the mystical forest while the adults weren’t watching, where Fauna developed her magical powers for the first time awoken through the simple art of a child focused through the arcane lens of the woods. All was fine, with the sisters unaware of the horrors of war haunting the minds of the rest of Vashnir. That was until the faithful day they were brought before the tribe’s elven council, and told by their leader Quirrel Meliamné that their parents had been killed after defeating a fearsome black dragon during the Battle of the Crossroads. This shook the now orphaned children, who for years had to fend for themselves as the war came to an end and past it, fighting for their voices to be heard in their tribe. Though always compassionate, Fauna has a deep resentment toward the world that took her parents away and, with the lack of perspective an isolated childhood brings, not truly understanding the effects of these events on the wider world. These feelings deepened as the council announced they were cutting off the outside world due to “conflict” between the western world and the Sola tribe. Fauna wanted to see this world for herself, but she struggled to gain freedom from her tribe. The sisters’ adventurers were restricted more and more, with the other members of the tribe seeing the outside world as dangerous, with defense training becoming a primary class in their village. As time passed, Fauna developed her arcane prowess through improving her painting skills, expressing her emotions through the lines and brushstrokes on the canvas. Eventually as the years passed and the girls became women, Fauna was asked to prove herself by Quirrel and the council by adventuring past the forest boundaries to develop her survival instincts in case of intruders. However she was to do it without Freya. Understanding that she should be prepared for the dangers of intruders while finally having her chance to travel, she agreed, leaving a note to her sister as to not disturb her sleep and leaving that morning. Throughout her travels in Vashnir, Fauna learned that the “outside world” could be dangerous but just as much as her home, while showing her landscapes and culture unknown and beautiful to her. She found great inspiration for her art, and met many strangers who completely shifted her narrow worldview and made her more accepting and aware of other cultures than ever. On her way back to her tribe, she was present at the Burning of Sareth and escaped with a few remaining survivors, forming the adventurers of Vashnir. She is now leading her party to her home, where she hopes they can find refuge and think of the next steps in warning the world of the rising power of the Eastern Armies once more, decades after the devastating war that killed her parents.
